All medication should be discussed with a doctor. Not everyone can take the same medication.
I've been given 3 or 4 different meds to attempt to help my anxiety. And the only one that really helped was a cocktail of pills designed to sedate people in hospital. In fact I was given beta blockers to try to ease my anxiety at one point and it turned me aggressive while having a horrific sinking feeling in chest.
Cutting out caffeine has been a huge, HUGE, helper in managing my anxiety and stress. Avoid coffee tea and fizzy as much as you can. Increase your exercise as that will also help you. Seek professional help if need more help managing.

Never take anything without the doctor prescription.
A doctor would have to prescribe you them. I have taken ativan and never had any side effects with it (it is actually one of the safest drugs to take). If you take too much for too long of a time period you can become dependent. My doctor told me never take it more than 3 days in a row, but it has helped me tremendously. The withdrawal effects are really bad if you take it incorrectly so have a talk with your doctor on how to prevent it. I don't see a reason why your pcp wouldn't prescribe it if you are legitimately having anxiety since they aren't as strong as xanax.
Always go to a doctor. Each medication has a different affect on every person, so you should get professional help to make sure you're getting what you need. If it's what you really want to do, there are natural ways to manage stress and anxiety (it's not the easy way, but maybe worth a shot?) and the medications always have side affects.

def go to a doctor if you think you need them. i was on a low dose for a little while during my parent's divorce because it was really difficult on me. but i got off of them after about a year. i did notice a bit of a difference on them. i think they helped.
Yes the medication called "Klonopin" is all that helped me with anxiety
The ones that do work (benzodiazepines) are addictive and require medical prescription. If you need help with that, just go see a doctor.
Try herbal solutions, they rarely help with real anxiety disorder. Do NOT resort to tylenol PM!!!
