Oh, well, I'm a big fun of coke myself. And I have to say that I will choose coke before any other drink. I have been addicted to it too, and still am, but for some reason I do not have the need to drink the coke as much as before. My favorite is actually the classic coke in the glass bottles. So yes, the addiction is to the caffeine but also to the sugar in it. Try mineral water, sugar-free lemonade and natural fruit juices instead. I know it's not that easy, but try it :). For a while I was able to substitute it with vitamin water. At least you will reduce it some.
And since I am not sure that I can post links on this site, here is a citation from healthbolt. Net:
" * In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake. ) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
* 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (Theres plenty of that at this particular moment)
* 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
* 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
* >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
* >60 Minutes: The caffeines diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee. ) It is now assured that you'll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
* >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you'll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. Youve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth. "

You could have an addictive personality, aka you can get addicted to anything .
hmm . Yes its a real concern because cola can cause kidney stones .
have you considered cooking your food in coke ?
sounds silly but you can do that . Like . Chicken . I heard people do that with chicken . Hey, at least you'll be eating .
also, perhaps you can fool your brain with a placebo of coke . Try getting coke syrup from a pharmacy and mixing it with fizzy water . A quick fix and its slightly healthier (aka no sugar)
I used to have coke for breakfast lunch and dinner; until I came down wiht an ulcer and I was in so much pain that I could even barely walk; so yea, that kind of cure my addiction to coke. Of course, it had to happen sooner or later, and I'm just glad it happened to me at an earlier age. There is always that experiment where they put a nail in a coke and you return a couple of days later and the nail is all dissolved so I guess coke can't be that good for you...as far as trying to stop it, what bout getting mineral water (water with bubble or club soda) and replace that in the fridge; whenever the urge gets bad to have a coke, drink the mineral water instead.
Good luck.
You can be addicted to anything... Do you have a sweet tooth? Coke (Classic) has a lot of sugars and while it does have caffeine it isn't nearly as bad as some of the other soft drinks.
If you want to wean yourself off it then don't keep any nice and cold Coke around... Drink it warm and in no time you'll be weaned off it. Damn, now I feel like drinking some Coke so I may as well give in to temptation... haven't had it in a while.

I LOVE coke . I particularly love vanilla coke and was on the verge of tears when they discontinued it for a while . I was pregnant at the time too ! When I was pregnant with my first child I tried to give soda up completely and started to have wicked headaches and be seriously grumpy . My ob/gyn actually told me to keep drinking it, just in moderation .
In addition to all the other health issues people mentioned, soda also prevents your body from absorbing calcium . I too don't like water unless it is ice cold and even then it is not my beverage of choice . I thought the idea of one glass of juice or water for every coke you drink is a good idea . You will need to scale back gradually until your body adjusts to the decrease in caffeine . I drink no more than 2 cans a day now, and I still get a headache if I don't have at least one !It has caffeine and that is addicting . Such as when people HAVE to have their coffee in the morning . You should cut down on it though because not only is it bad for your heart, you can gain weight, become diabetic, and your teeth won't be pretty because it will stain and eventually rot them . If that's not reason enough to at least cut down, I don't know what is . And try at least drinking flavored water because you're probably really dehydrated, and cutting down will give you headaches due to the caffeine withdrawal and dehydration will make that soooo much worse . Good luck !
its really bad for you
it rots your teeth and if you drink enough of it in a day will make you go blind (super size me)
and all the sugar will give you higher chance of diabetes and that's no fun
also all the grams of carbs and calories are not good for your body and all the high fructose corn syrup is no good for your body
and everyday (I did that math) you are digesting about 5 lbs of sugar into your body so if that doesn't stop you I don't know what will
and also on another note
we cal all tell you how bad something is for you but YOU must take the first step no one will walk you through itYou CAN be addicted, well addicted to sugar that is. I used to drink 5 sodas a day up until about two years ago. You should really try and stop. I know you probably know that and you are trying to quit. But seriously for your health and the health of your teeth, you need to quit. Trust me, I have so many teeth problems from years of drinking too much soda!
You are addicted to the caffeine. Talk to your parents and/or doctor about getting help. Drinking all that sugar isn't good for you either, you could get diabetes.
When I wanted to stop drinking sodas (my reason was to stop my high fructose corn syrup intake) I drank grape juice or apple juice to get my sweets fix. Try some juices and also munch on carrots or celery. Basically whenever you feel the urge for a soda, try to eat something else to fill the need.YESSSSSS any type of soda is addicting....i used to drink maybe 3 twenty ounce bottles a day and when I gave it up for Lent last year...i had a horrible headaches for two weeks.....after that...they sorta of went away and I got over it. I was addicted. now I drink water mostly. but I will have a soda every once in a while but I don't have to have it like I used too.....and plus...it packs on the pounds....
As a person who drinks a lot of Pepsi, (not Coke-can't stand it) (LOL) one solution I've found is to drink it only with ice. That way, its diluted some with water. I think its more of a habit (like cigarettes) than a physical addiction like heroin. Although that's been debated lately as well. (nicotine addiction) Plus, the sugar can lead to health problems as well, like obesity and diabetes. So, bottom line, you need to scale your consumption way back to a tolerable level.
Like others have said before me, you can be addicted to anything. the best way to get rid of this addiction would be to go cold turkey. just stop doing it
coke causes manyy bad things within the body. it has waaay to much sugar without any real nutrition, just empty calories. how long has this been going on? you might want to talk to your doctor, especially if you don't get very much daily exerciseLol well switch to juice silly goose. I don't drink water because I hate the taste of it. I do drink it when I work out though. But I drink a variety of different sodas. But try drinking some juice instead.
You can be addicted to almost anything. But with foods, its usually more of a mind thing. There isn't really anything addicting in coke, we just love the taste, maybe love the energy the sugar and caffeine give. But we get used to drinking it.
Yes, Coca Cola contains caffeine which is an addictive drug, so you can become addicted to Coca Cola
My friend got addicted to coco-cola and still is you should see you GP because it seems to be overtaking your life and it shouldn't.
Yeah you can get addicted but be careful it can cause some health issues with too much caffeine.
