Poll: how often do you get sleepless nights?
Thank you for all of your feedback, looks like I'm not alone.
Interesting results..
Ok, stop drinking shit like Rockstar, it's fucking poison.
Stop staring at a computer screen for hours - all that does is stimulate your brain and keep your thoughts whizzing around.
Exercise, even something real gentle will help you relax.
Meditate, and I mean actually meditate and do some breathing exercises. Don't just sit there with your eyes closed, take a few deep breaths and decide it doesn't work, actually do it properly. Read up on tantric breathing and practice.
Have a hot shower about half an hour before bed, the shower will drop your core temperature slightly and make you sleepy.
Warm milk - it's a natural sedative, don't boil it though, just heat it.
Relax before going to bed, don't have the TV or computer on.
Put some relaxing music on and either sit and breathe/meditate or read something, far less stressful on the eyes than a computer screen.
Switch off. That's what your brain needs, maybe do a really mundane task like sorting some filing or something, get your brain concentrating on something boring and not filling up your head with thoughts to keep you up all night.
BOOM! I thank you very much my friend.
I hope it sorts itself out soon, it's horrid when you miss out on your sleep, even more so when it's a regular thing. A bed time routine helps too, a wind down routine to get you into the frame of mind of: I'm going to bed, sleep will be with me soon :)
I agree with living without those nasty red bull & rock star drinks 😷 the other stuff is hard for me though I still agree.
This is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, but once you read about this disease, it's sure to keep you up at night. It is called "fatal familial insomnia", and it is scary as hell. A disease that causes progressively worse insomnia that results in paranoia, phobias, panic attacks, hallucinations, and eventually the complete inability to sleep, fatal familial insomnia lasts for months until eventually the person dies. And here’s another fun fact: there’s no cure. Sleeping pills actually make the disease worse. Once you have it, you're doomed to die in a paradoxically nightmarish awake state (or a coma). And while fatal familial insomnia has to be passed down from parents to children, there is also sporadic fatal insomnia that can happen to anyone at anytime. Sweet dreams.
It only happens if you change your sleep routine from day to night, and then try to change it back. The only way to fix it is to sleep for a couple of hours and then wake up for a while and when the night comes again, sleep for full. The reason behind this is that, I think, your brain is not sleepy yet and you have to force it to sleep for some hours.
The other one is that is bothering me now. It can be you are thinking about something very hard. The thoughts doesn't get out of your head. It can be your crush or anything else. The method behind that is to try to not think about anything at all. Force all of your thoughts out of your head. Imagine a ninja in your head that are cleaning all your thoughts. :P It helps for me. Anyways, the method is when you think about something say STOP! After a while you will be sleeping, trust me. :)
This problem happens a lot for me, because I have been living with a fairly extreme case of depression since I was a small child. Depressives are exhausted all day, fall asleep at odd times, but then at night the brain is in overdrive and sleep is impossible.
I have found that going to YouTube and searching for 'guided meditation' has led me to a large number of recordings that will hypnotise me into going to sleep. I am usually out like a light within 10 minutes.
Most nights and if i do sleep its never more than 3 to 4 hours max then im frigin up again. Also caus some of the jobs iv had in the past required me to be up to go to work as early as 3 30 am some nights i won't get home till 7 or 8 pm. By the time u eat there ain't a lot of time 4 sleep. Now im used to it but it shits my house m8s no end.

I had it on Monday night. My brain would not stop yelling things at me, shoving ideas to the frontfront of my mind and screaming at me to look at them and think about them. If I managed to doze off, I'd wake up soon enough and the fun would resume.
I was a freakin' zombie the following day.
I get it quite often and it pisses me off. By then I usually just get up on my computer and start playing video-games until I grow tired. Thank god I'm in independent adult school though otherwise it would suck going to school with less than a hour or twos worth of sleep.
i think everyone has gone through this.
it's been happening to me a lot more recently. it makes sense tho because there's more going on.
All the time. Even without my phone it just takes sooo long to get some rest. It's crazy, the less sleep I get the more awake I feel in the morning. I don't mind it too much. It is annoying when you are exhausted but all you can do is toss and turn throughout the night. Overthinking keeps me awake, which I do much tok often.
I had one of those nights last night. It's weird. I spend most of the time trying to work out what I've done, what's stressing me or what I've eaten that's causing me to stay awake. It's terribly frustrating especially when something important is happening the next day. Luckily, it doesn't happen too often but when it does happen, I want to scream.
It happens a lot to me. I figured out why and how to stop it. before i go to bed I write down my feelings about something that is bothering me and make a list of what I can do about it. I know that seems really dorky but it keeps me from lying awake at night thinking of how screwed out some things are. It really helps you should try it. Let me know if it helps.
yeah, it happens to everyone. sometimes my mind won't stop thinking about dumb shit, or making up situations that would never happen... maybe its an effect of too much loneliness. another problem is staying up too late many nights and not sleeping enough than sleeping during the day or whatever. even just staying up to have fun because you've been at shitty work all day, then you get home and start getting wired up again. .
Be less lathergic, go out and do something. After a lazy weekend I find it hard to sleep for work even If I do go to bed at a resonalbe time. When I do I just stay up all night reading, not even a good book I just started but rereading books I just have on hand. I just keep myself busy so that both my body and mind are tired.
It could be stress. Do you have finals or something else dealing with grades/ deadlines? But if it occurs I would def contact a doctor you dont want that affecting your school work. Its important its doesn't hurt to check it out!
Haha every night buddy. Not sleeping, then finally falling out and waking up sweating, shaking, and terrified from nightmares again. You learn to live with it, and steal little naps during the day, if you can.
Everyday!!! It's so frustrating because i'm tired but I can't sleep. When I finally do fall asleep, I only sleep for an hour or so because i have to wake up for class. Then I have to go about my day with a headache!
I think it happens to everyone. When it happens to me, it is because I am anxious or stressed and have to do a lot of things or have done a lot of things. When I relax and my head is clear without worries I sleep just fine.
Sadly yes
I have weeks where I will fall asleep by 12 and be on a good sleeping period
Then all of a sudden I have weeks where I'm up till 4am
I use to be addicted to sleeping pills on and off for almost 10 years. It really fucked with me. Literally one period of time I was on it was a year straight. When I got off it. I was miserable.
Yeah it happens but not often, I hate it because I know I have to get some sleep but don't. So frustrating.
Once i slept on Monday and i woke up on Wednesday.. and once again i couldn't sleep 4 days. You got me "a human can die because of sleeplessness"!!! No, no you're absolutely not alone :))
Sometimes I can't sleep, but then I realize I could if I would just lay down & stop doing stuff. Or stop thinking so much, turn some dreamy music on & stick my headphones in to drown out my brain.
Generally, I am a good sleeper. More than not getting sleep, I am guilty of stopping myself from sleeping bcoz there is something interesting I have read or do.
Sometimes. It's currently 5:47am and I've been up since 4:30am because I'm having trouble sleeping. I didn't want to wake my boyfriend up so I'm downstairs doing online Christmas shopping and speaking to a friend who is currently in New York.
Constantly. I'm not one of those people that can just roll over & go to sleep. My mind is restless & then I'll start itching or something. Pretty sure I need medication.
I have insomnia. Your not the only one, ok. I have gotten sleeping pills from my home doctor, and they just relax you enough to where you can sleep through the night.
