Approval - Why Do We Search For It?

I keep seeing this all over GAG; girls and guys alike posting pictures of themselves and asking for what everyone thinks, especially after weight loss (sometimes what appears to be unhealthy weight loss). So, I want to know what everyone thinks: why is it that we need approval about our appearances?

I don't mean at all to offend anyone, I'm genuinely curious.

When one has low self esteem, feels insecure, telling someone
they don't need to lose weight boosts their self esteem but
lot of these people are attention seekers who are looking
for attention from people, some are actual trolls i am sorry
i don't believe all them people are for real...

Because if you are feeling insecure, a compliment is a quick easy boost

I don't do that stuff, but I would if I weren't so distrustful. It's mostly because I feel like I'm a worthless, hideous, annoying excuse of a human being who doesn't deserve to take up precious oxygen. :D

Well your physical appearance doesn't dictate your self worth. Being a good person does. If being sexy apparently is the only way you can be a good human being, people like Abe Lincoln didn't deserve to live.

I guess. I'm in high school and I'm nice and all, but I doubt guys my age like girls because of personality. thanks for replyin tho

I went through a hard time in high school too. Became severely bulimic in fact. It doesn't fix you to be skinnier, to try and be prettier, or to impress boys. No guy in high school has ANYTHING to offer you. They're kids with dicks that can get hard... that's it. Other people's attraction means nothing if you don't contribute to society and take care of yourself. I'd rather be a troll who has true friends and nurtures people then a beautiful model who is used as a sexual object because that's all she is presented as.

Good. You shouldn't feel bad. High school is utterly meaningless (other than your grades). Just be a good person... that's what's truly important in the world. Being hot... that's all superficial.
