My girlfriend has an eating disorder?

(Sorry, i'm using my sister's account because i don't have a computer at the moment! I'm a 22 year old man if that matters at all)

my girlfriend recently confided in me and she told me that she never eats anymore. The only time she does have something is when she's with me and we go out to a restaurant or my dad makes food. (I only see her about 1-2 times a week because she has school and i have work) so it worries me that she doesn't eat anything for the other 5,6 days of the week.

she told me a few years ago it was bad and she was 90lbs (5'5")

She gained the weight back and got healthier. I tell her all the time she has the most perfect body.. because well damn, she does.

but i can tell this really takes a toll on her. The other day she came over crying about it.

i don't know if its considered and eating disorder, or just a problem she has. either way, I'm there for her every step of the way.
Im just not sure what i can do to help?
i told her id go with her to the doctors.. but do we just go to a walk in clinic? or what?

it's an eating disorder. she def needs to go to the doctor. most likely she needs to go to therapy, like a psychologist because eating stem from psychological issues.

eating disorders can having devastating effects both short and long term (e. g. eating disorders can really lower a woman's chance of giving birth). explain to her that you are terrified of what might happen if this issue goes on un-checked. tell her you love her and want her to be healthy and then suggest that she talk to a therapist

If she has a history she likely has a prior physician or psychologist. If that's the case ask her if she liked her therapy and then if she did try it again and if not go back to square one and find her a route.

Interesting, then why did gain the weight back? Or rather, how?

she said that she took a complete 180. she started to binge eat and it all came back very quickly. she's stopped that for the most part, but i just hate to see her have to go through all that again.

She needs medical attention as soon as possible. Go with her as support I suppose but there is likely a segment or ward of a hospital near you that does deal specifically with eating disorders; you will want to contact them on how to check her in.

Yes. It is an eating disorder.
She has mentioned being worse when she was 90lbs so perhaps that is a sign that she has had this problem before. Ask her what she did in order to get health previously when this was a issue. See how you can support her there. Research online how to support her during her struggle with an eating disorder. Be observant to any red flags that she is denying.

Most important is to self educate.
