I wouldn't hide it but I also wouldn't take the doctor's word as the end all be all. I'd definitely start prepping for death more but it doesn't mean I'd say he died I will die on this date so it will be this date. It could be this moment or it could be 50 years from now, or it could be any other time. Nobody knows the time of death except God.
Still though, I'd prep for my death more seriously as I would think well now I know that it seems I'll die soon. I'd tell the fam though, why hide it? My family will also not go nuts, who is the doctor to decide that they will?
as he's telling me how long I have left I would cover my ears and talk loudly. I don't think I would even want to know that I'm dying let alone how long I have left.
No I wouldn't hide it at all. Nor would I ask for anyone's pity, you're not assured that you're going to die an old wrinkly person anyway. I would share as much time and as much of myself with my loved ones while there was still time on the clock. I would also live that short time to the fullest doing everything I possibly could to be happy and fulfilled in the short time I had. I would make my life matter to those I love the most.

Yes id still tell them, i know my family and friends on a personal level, my doctor doesn't , so he could not make the assumption they aren't strong enough to cope with knowing. I know my relatives/ friends would want to know, so id go against my doctors personal opinion. They would feel deceived and it would hurt them if i kept it from them, plus i know they would want to support me and give me encouragement, rather than me having to cope on my own.
hmm.. i don't know Key, i dont think id be able to. it would be hard for me not to mention it. id rather they saw it coming than just let it happen unexpectedly.

I would tell them that way they can go through the emotions and try to enjoy the last days together. Its worse to have you die suddenly and them not knowing what the heck to do after you're gone. I know I would like to know.
