Dumbbell squats can be awkward and more difficult to get form right than when using a proper barbell. Barbells allow a more natural movement and make it much easier to keep your balance because you can properly support the right. The weight you can effectively work with when doing dumbbell squats has no bearing whatsoever on the weight you can work with when using a barbell.
Also, if the goal is strength gains, lower reps at a higher weight are ideal. Sets of 3-5 reps are ideal for strength gains.
So what? what are trying to do with these weights? are you trying to build muscle, or are you just concerned with just moving weight. There is difference between a weight lifter and a bodybuilder.
I do squats at home sometimes and I don't really weights, If I did it's usually 2 5lba In each hand. I've never really seen girls use 100-200lbs barbells with squats! Haha
