Is it actually possible to overdose on cough drops?

When I was little I had a friend and she was suppose to spend the night but then said she couldn't come because she overdosed on cough drops. She only had cough drops because I had seen her earlier in the day and I had them. So, she asked her mom to go get her some and she did. I only had them because I had been sick with a cold or flu and was getting better, but still had a cough. That's why I had cough drops, because I needed them. She only wanted them because I had them lol. Anyway, even when I was little and she said she "overdosed" on cough drops, I thought it was a little weird and impossible. Especially, since all she got was stomach ache like if you were to eat too much. That's it.

Thinking about that now, I still think it's impossible but I'm also not a doctor or any expert of any kind. I know no one here is an expert either, but I'm curious what other people think.

Do you honestly think it's possible to overdose on cough drops?

Technical an overdose is going over a recommended dose so technically you can but...

Realistically not to the point of getting sick from it. I drank half a bottle of cough medicine (don't ask why) and my throat felt funny.

But hey I didn't cough!

If your friend doesn't eat a lot of sugary stuff she could have gotten sick from the sugar in the cough drops. Or she could just be stomach sick.

Well an overdose is technically when u go over the recommended limit and must be hospitalized, not just go over the limit. Getting sick from doing too much of something and overdosing are quite different.

Yes it is possible to overdose on cough drops. I was taught this for the past 3 years in health class

You can overdose on everything, but this was not an overdose. A true overdose is when u have to go to the hospital. This girl obviously wasn't hospitalized so she did not OD. Lol.
