Need help selecting food for lactose and gluten intolerant boyfriend?

Hi everyone,
I'm new here. :)
My name is Joanna Lee, 18 years old, from Australia.
How are you all doing?
About a month and a half ago, I got a boyfriend. And next Friday happens to be his birthday!
I told him I've got a surprise for him and I'm planning on cooking for him at home because we both live alone while going to university and he has told me a couple of times he misses proper home cooked food. But the problem is that he's both lactose and gluten intolerant. What are the specific things I have to avoid? I don't want to invite him over and end up giving him pain instead! Luckily he's not picky about his food so it opens up my options a bit more.

You can literally google "gluten and lactose free recipes" and come up with a bunch of things. The most challenging things will probably be like premade mixes or sauces but you really have to check everything.

It would also be really nice of you to make a list of everything you cook with so he can look over it. Is he sensitive enough to worry about cross contamination?

That is a good idea... But I'm not even sure what gluten and lactose intolerant people have to avoid and google doesn't help much!

You can literally google "what foods/ingredients contain gluten/lactose" Meat is a good option so are potatoes and a lot of veggies. Like you could do roasted chicken potatoes and carrots with almond yogurt and fruit for dessert?

It will take research but it's doable. Google is your friend.

Also you could study (research) and look into lactose and gluten free food as you will be clued up and you will come across that you care about him and understand his world more.
