What made u decide on that gym vs others in your area?
Thanks again for your input! 💪
The drop in fee is $4.75, and with myself going at least 4x/week, it's better for me to get the gym membership which is $45/30 days.
The gym I go to is a whole rec centre, so included in that is gym, pool, badminton, ice-skating, yoga/pilates, etc.
I decided to go to that gym versus another one in my area on which I'd get a huge student discount for a few reasons, mostly regarding the crowd who frequents it. At the gym I go to, I often run into people I know from my high school days so it's nice to catch up. Everyone else seems much friendlier as well.
I don't use many machines aside from the elliptical, which I like better in my gym versus the cheaper one. In the cheaper one, ellipticals are all facing the wall in a darker room, whereas at my gym it's a much more open floor plan and ellipticals are facing the walls which are huge window panes if that makes sense so way more enjoyable to be on in that respect.
Plus badminton which I go for every Saturday night is included so I love being able to go for my full gym routine, then down the hall to start a 2 hour badminton session with friends&my guy. :)
I used to pay $150 a month for a super nice gym. I hated it there. Now I pay $17.00 a month for a small gym that only has what I need. It's so much better! I just go workout around a bunch of other sweaty people instead of a ton of women in matchy matchy clothes sporting gigantic fake breasts lifting 3lb dumbbells. My only complaint is I wish they were open until midnight every night.
I get a kick out of the fake girls who do that 3lb dumbbell stuff. My gym has a woman's only room and I find it funny and have even seen other women laugh at the concept.
Thanks for mh! 😊
I go to a gold's gym and pay 30 a month basically. I think there's an annual fee somewhere in there as well but it isn't much. The weird thing with gold'ss is they constantly avoid telling people what the monthly fee is until they consult with someone who works there. Then the rate can change. Like I pay 30 a month, yet they were gonna charge someone else higher then she said she was a student so suddenly it was 30 again yet I'm not a student and I pay 30.
I use the weights and every so often the machines. I gotta throw in my squats, bench presses, and deadlifts. They have cardio machines but I'm not big on using them since I need to gain weight, not lose weight.
I use 24 Hour Fitness. I found that Costco has memberships to that gym for sale at around $350 for two years. The gym is open all hours and has all the standard equipment (rowers, ellipticals,, stair climbers, bikes, cable machines, free weights, treadmills, etc.) as well as a pool, sauna, basketball court, clean changing rooms and showers. etc. Also has a room where other exercises (zumba) are held at extra cost. I use the gym for joint support ( I have torn rotator cuffs) and cardio. They basically offer all I need and a lot more and at a reasonable cost, And open 24 hours is definitely a workable schedule.

I used to have 24 hour fitness which was like $24/month at the time. Now I work out at home.
Recently, a friend took me to her gym on a free guest pass. Monthly membership there is about $80/month. Pricey for me but it had:
*a decent sized selection and variety of cardio, weight equipment, and free weight section
*a room with a bunch of fitness pull ropes and a room for classes
*free yoga mats, swiss balls, towels, robes, slippers, hairdryers, etc. you can use for your stay
*a sauna and steam room with individual showers that have bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner
*very clean facilities
She said the best part she like is that its very clean and that you never have to wait your turn for a machine even during peak hours.
I don't pay because my sister works as a personal trainer. I get in for free under her +1.
She works for Goodlife which literally owns every high branded mainstream gyms in Canada. My gym has all the workout machines, free weights, pool, sauna AND towel service. Amazing!
When I was going to a gym, $70 per month. Had a large cardio section (never used it, lol), a biking room, a pool, a room for classes, machines, and a free weight area with a number of benches, a squat rack, smith machine, power racks, etc. I used only the free weights.
I cancelled my membership and workout at home now. Saving up, you can buy all the equipment you need for the cost of a few months of membership at a gym. You don't have to wait to use equipment, you can time your rest intervals more effectively, you don't have to deal with girls caked in makeup trying to chat you up (lol), etc. Working out at home is soooooo much better.
That said, if you don't know the proper form for an exercise and you aren't sure which ones you should be doing with which parameters to achieve your goals, then a gym and a PT should be your mode of operation, until you can work effectively alone.
The gym I was at, for that price, also had a sauna, individual shower stalls, and supplied good quality shampoos, conditioners, and soap for you, plus towels. The only I brought with me was gym clothing and a comb. Thought that might be relevant to your question.
The world is my gym! Free!!!

planet fitness, $20 a month
i like it because it doesn't get too crowded but it doesn't have a lot of machine options like LA fitness. I don't mind though, I still get to do my workouts without any problems.
Admittedly, I'm a student and lucked out with a university with a stellar rec center. I still pay, about 250 for a semester, which is roughly 50$ a month, but it includes several pools, a full weight area, multiple circuit areas, plenty of cardio machines, an indoor track, basketball/volley ball courts, racquet ball, boxing rooms, and about 100 free classes per week or another 250 paid classes for very cheap (like, 15$ for 6 weeks).
Right? I'm not going to be pleased when I actually have to go find a gym with half of the amenities.
My two memberships end up being $52 a month. I have no annual fees, no sign up fees, just my month cost. I chose the gym I did because it was one of the cheapest only one in town with pool facilities (that's the second membership fee). Also it's more free weights that machines, it has an ample amount of free space. It's small so it's one of the less busy gyms in my area which was it's main selling feature. Plus one membership alone being 29 a month helped
It's the school gym for me since it's free. But outsiders have to pay £320 p. a., so that's about £26.60 a month.
I go to planet fitness. I pay $20/month but am about to go back to the basic $10 membership. The only reason I had the black card was so I could bring my sister as a guest and occasionally use the massage beds, but I moved so I won't be going with her like I used to.
When I look for a gym I go by price mainly. In my old town I lived a couple blocks away from planet fitness and it is really cheap. Now I live across town from planet fitness but the gyms closer to me are $40/month and higher.
When i was in a big gym, it was like 65 a month i think 5 of that was for towel service. Facilities were good i guess, good free weight area, too many weight machines, masses of cardio machines, saunas etc.
I train one on one with a trainer now in a small private gym, basically pay like... 30 a session, sessions are about 90 minutes. no fees beyond that.
My girlfriend and I were considering going to the gym. The sign up was either 50, or 15$ Monthly it is 35$.
Which I had sufficient workout equipment at home, it was mostly for her... I'd rather use my stuff then pay 35$ a month.
I pay a flat charge of 21$ a month for my gym membership, and 45$ a month for martial arts lessons at the same building.
I've just joined a gym that hasn't opened yet, currently the enrolment fee is £20 but wait for it... the monthly fee for the next year is £12.99 <---cheap as, and about a 2 minute walk from home.
I have an elliptical in my room so I don't really pay. Even though I know that I need to do other exercises too
20 dollars a month, I go to an old little boxing gym, everything is kind of old in it
But the people are nice, and it's mostly kind of empty
I currently am not subscribed to any gym. I will start looking for one next week though
Cool! I'll check that out. How do you know if a gym is a good one?
It really depends on what you need. For me I mainly need free weights and weight machines. To be blunt, I'm too fat to do bodyweight exercises because my joints get stressed.
So I need free weights and weight machines to safely exercise my body.
Some people like more advanced stuff like racquet ball courts, pool, hot tub / jacuzzi, massage chairs/tables, etc.
None.
I live in a townhouse so being a resident allows me free gym membership + other recreational activities. :)
In my school membership is free as long as I am enrolled in classes for the semester.
It's so expensive I'm embarrassed to say. I look for a clean, tidy, safe environment with lots of scope, I also look at the people using the gym and the people who work there.
I have free membership lol I guess gyms give free admission to ladies
