It depends on what you mean by "losing your mind" if you mean due to mental illness or stress related then it normally starts with hallucinations, delusions, being excessively angry, having full on conversations with yourself, a pet, a object or someone that isn't actually there, screaming and shouting for no reason, speaking in a language or voice that no-one else understands or knows, i always hard that you can't actually lose your mind you either lose touch with reality which can make others think you've lost your mind but its just you can't tell the difference between reality and "fantasies" or dreams or it could be that you've turned into a psycho and again it depends on what kind of psycho
They say if you can tell you're losing your mind, you're not really losing your mind because folks who've lost their minds never think they're lost their minds, so I guess the answer is ye--no--uhhh... Yno?

You gave the answer yourself. Acting a little bit strange is no sign of loosing your mind. It just means you are not average.
In some conditions, the client would be aware of the condition, Ie some schizophrenics are aware of an issue and seek help themselves.,
