What age should people start drinking?

My sister came to me worried because she's been invited to a party that has drinking. Her friends are 15 and she's 14 and she knows that that she'll only have one drink. I wanna know your guys opinions.

While I get the reasons for making the age limit 21 (brain development reaching completion at the end of puberty), I also understand the arguments to lower it to 18 for members of the military. (And to 18 for members of the military only).

As much as I thought I was an adult at 18, I know that if I were allowed to drink at that age it would have been a very bad thing. So I completely agree with the drinking age being where it currently is for the US.

She having one drink, is bullshit. Just tell her to make sure she won't drink on an empty stomach, and keep a low profile with the glass or bottle. There are bound to be drinking games like the Mask of beer.. so it's going to be a fun night for her.

If she want to go and get drunk let her. In the morning when she wakes up with a Hang over she'll regret it. But just make sure she don't make any stupid choices if boys are there.

It really depends. I Think 14-15 is way bit too young. I really didn't start drinking till i was 27 myself. The peer pressure at that age is rough. I mean one slow drink isn't the end of the world.

It is not recommended for underage people to be consuming alcoholic beverages as it harms neurological development. Legally (I live in New York City, New York, United States) it's 21 but preferably in the mid-20s or early 30s.
