People have the right to kill themselves in which ever way that temporarily pleases them. If nicotine alters their state of minds and makes them temporarily happy because they can't handle the reality in which they live in, then let them smoke, but don't you dare smoke around my kids with clean lungs. They don't need that bad influence either.
You have a right to hurt yourself, because you're not hurting me, I don't don't really give a sh*t. I'm a night owl myself and I don't sleep well, I don't smoke. Sometimes I'd take melatonin to help ease me into bed and sometimes it works, but the majority of sleep issues stems from stress and anxiety.
Also, if you're single you'll find yourself up at night more often than a person who is in a relationship, but that's normal. Who says you have to go to sleep at night? If you have a night job, then sleeping during the day is normal. I always get my sleep during the day even when I say up all night. Some animals in the wild are nocturnal, and so are some humans so you shouldn't be ashamed of being nocturnal, but if you want to sleep at night and using smoking as an excuse to sleep at night, then that's temporary solution for a long-term problem.
Not only are you temporarily pleasing your brain, but karma may come back and give you some form of cancer or ailment.

In public spaces yes. No one should be subject to 2nd hand smoke , assumption of consent is just selfish.
My opinion is the placebo effect. You think it works, so it does. I was a smoker for 7 years, and still enjoy one from time to time. But after having quit for the most part i learned that there are triggers which make you want to smoke, and its actually the act of satisfying the trigger that calms you, not the cigarette. If you can transition yourself away from allowing these overwhelming feelings of want to overpower your will, you can actually quit. For instance, i found that its easier to quit smoking if you channel your energy and thoughts elsewhere. I use exercise because smoking actually makes this a harder time for me and I've come to enjoy it. The high you get from running on the treadmill for half an hr will make you feel better about yourself, and actually calms you for the remainder of the day.
I believe if smoking cigarettes is legal then pot should be. But either way people have the right to do what they want as long as I doesn't affect others. Like when people smoke indoors or near another person who doesn't smoke it bothers me because my grandma died of secondhand smoke

As long as you're outdoors, or where non-smokers can avoid you, I think it's fine.
I don't believe in the nanny state, where the government has any right to protect you from your own vices.
McDonalds burgers could be an equal health risk and send you to an early grave. Will they ever outlaw them?
The government even puts toxic chemicals like fluoride in the water supply, and that's acceptable
Unlike cigarette and drug smokers I am not an addict when it comes to smoking, I simply smoke because I enjoy it whether that is a briar full of pipe tobacco or a cigar. I enjoy both, and I do it in moderation and I love the community that comes with it.

Smoking should not be illegal but it should be restricted to only certain areas. Why smoking is an issue? Because it not only affects the smoker but also the people around him\her. by the way I do not smoke. If you smoke, get rid of it or minimize using it as a social lubricant. It's a nasty habit and can be turned into an addiction in a snap.

Make it illegal and it goes underground. I ain't got no problem with it.
Not as illegal as it is now, but they should put some limits on it to prevent trade to other countries. Alcohol is much more deadlier.
