Does anyone have AN?

So I got a diagnosis of AN ( Autonomic Neuropathy). Unfortunately the AN effects my heart and causes it stop (no joke) and causes double beats. Does anyone have this? It took doctors 6+ years to figure out what was going on. I have a list of restrictions as long as the Great Wall. I can't find much on the Net about AN. Soc said its rare when it effects your heart... I feel like my life is literally ruined. If you don't feel comfortable talking about it in a comment feel free to PM me. I feel lost and confused not knowing how to tell mg son that mom can't take him too swim or fish.

Rule of thumb is to only explain what a child can understand at their age. Without getting into details or causing him any worry you can tell him things as they come up in very basic ways. I can't do it because it makes mommy feel yucky so let's do this instead! And give him an alternative choice. If he asks why tell him everybody's body is different and some can do certain thing and some cannot. You're life isn't ruined, and I'm sorry you have this condition. Kids love their moms regardless, you are his everything at this age and he loves you whether you swim or not. :) 💜

I think you should try to explain it some way to him. I don't know a lot about little kids like that but I would think he would think that you just don't want to be bothered with him if you kept making excuses.

I see this same disorder is very typical for Diabetics you
know Neuropathy is nerve damage and it's usually caused
by undiagnosed diabetes or uncontrollable diabetes this is
serious matter and i feel bad for you... cause for diabetics this
is one screwed up disorder for sure and I'm sorry about your
little son i hope some type of treatment can happen for you.

They ruled out diabetes it affected my heart so they are calling it Cardiac Autonomic neuropathy. Apparently called the silent killer. Heart attack risks go up. :(

oh dear that is a bad condition there
is iit dangerous for death or can it be regulated?
you should probably tell your son
he will understand and i think it is better than excuses because excuses lead to worse lies and awkwardness
be straight to him but in a mild way

The DR don't know much but beside there is no treatment on the neurological side. As for the cardiac side I can only do beta blocks for my high blood pressure. Although records from 17-22 show that it has progressed at a rather fast pace they do not know if this can become fatal. I seen my cardiologist yesterday who said AN is extremely difficult to treat when it effects the heart. It is nonreversible, I will have this the rest of my life. There is no cure, and the only option that I have is a beta block which I'm on and it does not help. Its sad when your son sits on the stairs next too and said I will take care of you mom... My son actually lives with his father because of my condition. I finally got medically cleared to drive again. First time in nearly 10 months.
