I'm going to train my 15 year old niece in the gym! How should I start?

I'm having trouble knowing what to do. My fitness goals are different. I am naturally thin, so my gym gaols are about building muscle. My niece is overweight. How should I start? She's very new to all this.
I'm thinking for our fist session, I'll just show her around the gym. I'll have her do some cardio and a little bit of strength. But how do I start with someone who is totally new to this? Do we do body weight training, or can we try out some weights?
