Does my dad have alzheimers or demensia?

My dad is 64 and he is starting to do things that make no sense. He acts like he is absoluetly stupid. Today he yelled at me becasue he didn't know what the +1 was in front of his number... he didn't know that was a dialing code! Then he has a hard time comprehending or understanding people. He gets mad easily, he forgets things that he should never forget. (Like things that he does as an everyday routine) his judgment is starting to change drastically. He is obsessed with cleaning and organizing. I had to explain what OCD was but somehow he has never heard of that being on this earth for over 40 years.. he doesn't know things that an average person or adult should. Whats going on with him? This started about a few months ago.

There are some simple tests for Alzheimer's disease. You really need to see a doctor, but there are some things you can test at home. The easiest is testing if the person can still smell peanut butter. Do a google search for "testing for Alzheimer's disease using smell". This is an easy at home way to test. There are other tests but this one is an easy one to do.

Does he remember that he is forgetting things
If you can recognize that he is forgetting them things
than it may not be Alzheimer's / Dementia

If he cleans things and forget he cleaned them that
is one true sign , does he remember stuff cooking on
the stove or baking in the oven

You want test him with them things and see what he knows
there is test they can give him to tell whether or not he got
the early onset of the disease.

take him to a doctor and see if it is Alzheimer or dementia. they only way you will get answers is by going and seeing a doctor.

I would take him to a doctor. If he does have either maybe it can be caught in the early stages and they can start treatments. I have a uncle who has dementia and everyday it seems like he's getting worse. He can hardly do anything for himself.
