Have you ever donated blood?

I went to donate blood today but they didn't accept me because I had stiches the previous month. I 'll go again in September. I think it's an easy and quick way to massively help other people. A healthy person can be a regular donor, he/she can donate 3 times per year. Donated blood lasts for 48 days, and is used for people who have lost a lot of blood, like those who have surgeries or a serious accident, eg a traffic accident.

No, the last time I tried to do it, they told me I didn't weigh enough so it wouldn't be a good idea. I've put on a few pounds since then though so I'll probably try again some time in the future.

I have donated and felt very good about it. I did not experience and inconvenience afterwards and it only took about 6.5 minutes to fill the bag.

Use to until I was excessively and unnecessarily embarrassed about a burn mark on my arm they thought was a needle mark and they accused me of being a drug user! Never went back!

AB+ can only be used in other people who are AB+.

So if you have an accident, it will be more difficult for you to find a donor, right? All the more reason to donate in my opinion

No. AB+ can accept any blood type, but can only be given to others who are AB+

I did once then people from the clinic didn't allowed me because there was something too low in my blood. I need to take some pill so I can regulate that.

I did it when I was a student
I did it when I was in the army, because we'd get extra day's off for it. I managed to save enough days vacation (in different ways) to make a trip to Italy while I was enlisted.

I have, the first time I try they said I was to skinny so I couldn't.

But last year I finally gain enough weight to actually donate

My fraternity brothers and I used to give blood at college and then go out for one or two beers as that was all that was needed then. Cheap buzz. The nurses all thought we were really nice guys :)

I have lots of times but I get turned down sometimes for high blood pressure that day or having a small fever, things like that.

I have not. Where I am you have to weigh 110 lbs abs I weigh less than that.

The blood doesn't go to Africa, it wouldn't last long enough for the trip before congealing. It usually goes to local hospitals.

if your blood type is not common, it's one more reason to donate. I guess that people with uncommon blood types find it even more difficult to find blood when in need

when I was in Galveston I was always busy playing soccer and worrying about school and I didn't had time and now that I moved back to my hometown there are no blood banks.
