the most common suggestion, is very expensive, can be hard to find and unreliable in quality.
What do you good people do when you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to turn?
I used to have depression, and I've lately been going through minor anxiety issues, but nothing quite diagnosed. Depression was hard. I actually wrote a myTake about it not too long ago. I think one of the hardest things is that people don't realize it's an actual disease or illness. They think it's something you can just turn on and off yourself but it's really not. I don't have clinical depression anymore but it's still changed me in many ways. And a lot of people think that just because you can't see it then it's not an actual disease or illness. I think one of the things that really helped me was writing. It was a way for me to let all of my feelings out, even though back then my writings were total crap 😂 lol it still really helped. And music was another thing that helped me. It made me feel like I didn't just deserve to crawl in a hole and die that everyone needs to leave their mark somewhere somehow. A lot of people don't take mental illness seriously which is very very scary because you feel as though you don't know where to turn. Anyways I'm not sure what mental illness you suffer from but I'm sure you'll get there someday :) and if you'd ever just like to talk to someone or just vent I'm always available to message :) don't worry I don't judge.
I agree, people constantly ask "Why can't you just be better?". And it's like "That's totally the question I have!"
Best wishes - I hope things continue to improve for you. :)
Thank you I hope they improve for you as well :)
I struggle with depression and had an emotional breakdown recently. It's debilitating and so frustrating, but I remind myself I am loved, and reach out to those who care. It's hard because like you said, it can cause isolation, but I remember that my life is worth fighting for. My boyfriend and sister are very supportive so when I begin to feel depressed (lacking motivation, having self defeating thoughts) I tell them, "Hey, I'm really struggling right now and it's scary."
My boyfriend will call/FaceTime (long distance relationship), and check on me through texting. My sister will do the same and when she gets a chance, visits me.
The more people that know about your struggles, the easier it is to reach out.
My boss even checks on me from time to time. I guess my main advice is, build that support system because in my experience, that's who saved my life.
That's very nice that your loved ones are supportive. I hope things look up for you.
Well mental illnesses pours into a lot of factors. One must understand the fine line between sanity and insanity. Some will feel its there right to get angry, emotional, or even throw tantrums. If you dont like there behavior you're a hater, then there are most who try to control it but all hit the fan. It either come out wrong, it taken the wrong way or there not treated with respect. I dealt many many mentally ill people and its sad bad thosr people have to either seek help or stand own two feet with no help.
I have my days when my sanity is gone, my mind is dark, and lonely. But to cooe with it is very challenging. Thus goes for all whos down fir 2 1/2 count. Pick hobby, a goal, or try to achieve something. If you do your lofe be more better off than to look for others to cheer you up.
What hobbies and goals help you feel more sane?
I write out my troubles turn it into poetry, i draw, exercise to feel great, i paint, im working on 3 visual novels, i express how i feel and draw and write it out after that let the my hobbies build. Now i play acustic guitar, write what i want about a movie i like, i cook, learn abput massaging fir the lucky lady, read, study my surroundings, and more.
Very nice.
Meditate and read for answers.
Great advice!

I have a mental illness and won't specify it on here but I am here if you like to talk. PM me. I take meds , see a therapist and physciatrist, eat healthy (clean as possible), exercise, get out and get some sun (sun is proven to help with depression due to vitamin D) and pray/meditate will help to im sure... maybe listen to music too.
Thanks! I will likely PM you soon to ask your opinion on a few things.
cool
Well I have depression and anxiety issues, so I usually write it out or exercise when I get the chance to. I write poems and listen to music, but I also tend to shut people out until I'm ready. I do that cause I know that my mood can shift from depressed to violent in a second.
That's awesome that you write poetry.
Either a sestina or villanelle.
@JaysunFet Why do you think I said I SHUT PEOPLE OUT? It's so it doesn't get to that point. I don't want to be violent and get at the wrong person, someone I love. So I avoid them until the feeling passes over.
Nothing brings these feelings in all reality. I just have depression, so it can be anything like minor issues. It varies from person to person but generally, people with depression just happen to feel bad with little to no provocation as to why. In my case, I've sort of become numb to these feelings.
You should be specific because not all mental illnesses are equal and some are more severe than others. My best friend who is bipolar copes by smoking pot , excersizing, seeing a therapist and by consistently surrounding himself with people because he can't stand to be by himself. I suffer from chronic depression and i just like drink and smoke , my friendships aren't really affected by it its more like a people can't really tell
It makes more of a difference as you get older, honestly, when it comes to friendship.
depends on wot kind of mentali illness actually.. each one's different... maybe used 2 have some MI during my teens
