I would not try the treadmill without shoes. I know some cultures don't wear shoes while they run. But they live in the jungle, jungle floor is not as hard as a treadmill. You are more pro to injuries such as ankle sprain, loss of cartilage in your knee joints due to impact. and shin splits ( little fractures in your shin do to impact).
But if really don't wanna wear any shoes I would say socks on would be better.

If you have dirty sports shoes it can be a option to wash them... first get the "big dirt" off and than put them in the machine. That works pretty well, my mum always does it.
You could consider bare foot or with socks, but test for yourself, at a low pace, that you won't slip!
And depending on how rough the belt of the treadmill is, it may hurt your feet or not...
You should definitely wear shoes! Running bare feet can can seriously damage your health and cause severe back problems since the ground of treadmills is too hard, it doesn't provide any buffer zone. So better just get an extra pair of special running shoes that are well feathered if you wanna work out on the treadmill.
You just shouldn't do it without shoes because that's not good for your joints. Maybe carry the hoes downstairs and put them on once you get on the treadmill

I say wear socks - so the treads don't scrape or "burn" your feet.
And the limit would be up to you... If you start feeling sore around x miles, then that's a good cap for you - though I'm sure you can increase distance with time.Abebe Bikila ran gold in the Olympics marathon, so no, you shouldn't be too concerned.
Just make sure you lane on your toes, not your heels, when doing so.
Run to your hearts content!I use the treadmill I have at home barefoot all the time.
Remember your impact on your feet are different without shoes on, so go at a slower pace initially than u usually would to see how your body reacts to the impact.I would buy a pair of shoes specifically for running on your treadmill. Without shoes the impact may be greater on your knee joints as ooposed running on grass or the beach
I would definitely not use a treadmill without shoes.
u must seek gait examination at running shoe shop... take advisory there
