Yoga will certainly help you burn some pounds... it's a little bit of everything and will work every inch of your body.
1. You'll need to get the basic moves
2. Meditate/relax every time after you finish exercising
3. Stretch as freely as you want before or after exercising (but before meditating)
4. Repeat

There's a small difference from how I was taught to do it and what he did. You saw when he was bent down touching his feet or at least trying to after that we come up but we're still bent over this time holding our elbows for about 5 seconds. After that we stand all the way up with our hands put together like the meditating position and our eyes closed for about 5 secs. Then we keep our hands together but lift them up over our head once they can't go any higher we separate them sideways and bend our head and back backwards for about 3 seconds and finally start to bend forward again and return to plank or downward dog. But you can do it either way I just prefer to add the little stretching/meditating part to it.
Once you get the basic/easier ones down that's when you decide on what specific body parts/areas you want to work on and you can look up yoga exercises mixed with other exercises that will really make you feel the burn whether it's in the calves, arms, stomach, thighs, butt, etc. You can use weights/dumbbells, etc.
But once you start to do the harder more specific exercises you always and I do mean always do your original yoga exercises first to warm up.

losing weight is extremely simple. Exercise at least three times a week for an hour and eat balanced meals. A proper plate should consist of 1/2 veggies or fruit, 1/4 complex carb (such as brown rice, quinoa or wheat bread, etc), and your protein should be the size of your palm. For exercise I think weight lifting is most effective (don't worry about getting bulky, women lack the necessary hormones to get muscles like men), I think it's more effective because it burns calories long, and build lean muscle which burns calories by just existing. If you want bigger muscles (example, larger butt or arms) then do heavy weighted exercises with low reps (low weight high rep) and if you want smaller leaner muscle do low weights high rep (this basically toned preexisting muscle. And add about 20mins of cardio of your choice. This is what I find most affective but great at home workouts like blogilates or tone it up on YouTube are great and free.
Staying motivated us hard, but I suggest making a vision board. It sound stupid but it works (mine has a picture if my setting or before body and next to it are a bunch of pictures of my dream body) seeing how far I had come or was going really set the tone of my day and reminded me what I was working for. I also keep one picture of my dream body on the fridge so that it reminds me to make smart choices about what I'm eating

I'm the same way lol I'm just too lazy though. When you're less active, you require less calories. So only eat when your hungry. When I'm at work, I eat all day every day because I'm moving all day, but on my days off veged out on the couch, I eat at like 2pm and then not until dinner because I don't need to. And watch what you drink, some things you drink besides water and coffee have crazy amounts of calories and no nutritional value.
Diets are really effective. I can give you a diet plan that is pretty effective - I've lost 10kg in not so long following it.
Diet and exercise. Without exercise it will be very difficult.
Atkins diet... u can eat bacon and cheese and lose weight!!! I lost 40 pounds just by doing this not any excersize at all
Exercise snd eat right, that's the only healthy way to lose weight.
Drink carrot + celery juice ( always eat or drink 2 hours after your exercise ) , go swimming 3 times a week for an hour
Nutrition is 90% of the battle, so do some serious research and look into changing your eating habits.
