Nightmares- have you ever had one where you can switch on the lights?

I have a recurring nightmare where I feel like something is chasing me and I'm running through the house but none of the lights will switch on.

do you usually sleep with the lights off? maybe try and keep a journal on what happend in the dream and then read it ofver after a few days and maybe you can figure out whats causing it? do you sleep with your head underneith the covers. are you afraid to go asleep afraid of haveing the nightmare?
