if you want abs, you should also be working. Dieting alone is unlikely to bring out whatever abs you do hvae (unless you get down to 0% body fat).
congrats on loosing weight, but I suggest you start working out now. you'll build bulk quite fast to begion with and it can all be done for free, and at home.

you should grab yourself some cheap dumbells and start working your arms. you should also include some cardio.
this will see you tone up nicely and if you want to take it further then you can join a gym.
Congrats once again on the weight loss, but if you want abs, you're going to have start sweating a little :)

Don't worry what others think, you will never be happy if you try to make others happy. Yes you do need to get skinny to get abs, I would say your gonna have some pretty cool abs when you get down to 170, remember in order for your abs to show nicely you have be 10% body fat or lower 9% is the sweet spot for most. And after you finish cutting don't bulk up right away, stay at your maintainence calories for about 4-6 months, you need to give your body a break because it's gone through a lot
