Why is my scalp so dry and flakey?

For the past few week my scalp has been sooooooooo dry and even a bit itchy. My hair is naturally kinda dry and straw like but I have never had much of a problem with dandruff ever in my life but recently I dandruff like crazy. Whats wrong with my scalp and how can I fix it? Please help! :(

What colour are the flakes? It's not uncommon to get a dry scalp (if the flakes are the colour of your skin, it's a dry scalp). A dry scalp will be distributed more evenly around your head. Dandruff and psoriasis are typically localized.

It seems mostly around my hairline. The flakes are light in color looks pretty much white next to my black hair.

This will seem odd. Try putting body lotion on it to see if it helps.

Body lotion? What kind? I only have bath & body works kind. Will that harm my hair?

A few minutes ago I parted my hair all over to examine my scalp and I see no skin irritations, my scalp look smooth but its still itchy. It seem to improve because at first my scalp looked scaly and the flakes would come up if I scratched at the scalp with my comb. This is weird. I just want it fixed T_T

Preferably one without any scent.

It's scaly? I think that's dandruff. You might want to try Nizoral. Only thing that really works, in my opinion.

Try Selsun Blue Moisturizing Shampoo! It's the only stuff that works I swear. I get a dry scalp sometimes so I use that a couple times a month and it keeps it from getting gross.

It's really cheap, it's sold at Target and a lot of drugstores!
