Sorry, but you can't make soap without using lye. Lye is essential for the chemical reaction (saponification) that turns fats into soap. If lye isn't used you are really just rubbing fat on your body.
That being said, there shouldn't be any lye in any soap. Lye is highly caustic and will burn skin quite badly. Soap makers add more fats than needed just so they're always sure that the lye is completely used up.
Any soap that is claiming it is "lye-free" is therefore just making a claim that any soap ever made should be able to make, or is not really a soap it is a detergent bar (check the ingredients).
