This assumes than men are responsible for inventing things, fixing and making them better.
You might as well replace that meme with:
"If women didn't wait for men to invent things for them then they could invent whatever mammogram machine they wanted."
I agree that they'd have invented something better, and I agree that something better should be invented for women, not sure it's a great comparison though. It's painful (for me), but it'd be worse for guys I think.
I've had two done and they weren't that bad. Maybe your mammotech was squeezing too hard
Maybe. I might just also be really sensitive or something, I don't know. All I know is that having my boobs crushed hurts a lot more than I was told it would. :(
Well, my tech told me if it hurts, it's for one of these reasons
1. Squeezing harder then necessary
2. Tensing up during postioning
3. Fibrocystic breasts
4. You got it just before your period
Otherwise it shouldn't be any worse then getting your blood pressure taken
If you don't mind me asking, why did you get it so young. Even in people with a family history, screenings' not supposed to start before 25
I've had three relatives die from cancer (two of them had breast cancer) within the last five years. My mom was panicking and made me get screened.
Maybe the next time will be better, then. I'll have to watch out for the timing and whether I'm tensing. Thanks for the info.
Did your mom have breast cancer and if so how old was she?
Not my mom, but my aunt, grandmother, and great aunt did. My aunt was in her fifties, grandmother in her 70s, not sure about great aunt (we never met).
If breast cancer occurs after menopause it's hard to tell if it's genetic. However the only reason that anyone should start screening early is if they had an immediate (mother or sister) family member diagnosed before the age of 50. My mom was 36 when she was diagnosed so I had to get screened starting at 26. But there's really no reason you should be getting your girls clamped clamped LOL
I don't think either of us knew that at the time (though again, I appreciate the information-- def useful now), and my mom doesn't really go by logic anyway, lol. She just wanted to be sure I was safe. I'm just glad she's calmed down and I can wait a long time for the next one, haha.
