My hair is really damaged, what to do?

Stop shampooing your hair! It strips the natural oils and will make it very dry and brittle. Give it a rest... and a condition. Then after a few days use a colour stripper. They cost as much as a box of dye and seem to work well. If you have used a very bright or vibrant permanent colours in the past then these will have lightened your hair in order to get such a bright colour (even if the colour is something dark like a purple or deep red), so your hair may look lighter than usual. Anyway, buy a colour stripper but give your hair a deep condition and then do not wash it for a couple of days. No shampoo, no conditioner. If you're going to deep condition I suggest some coconut oil. Nice and natural, no chemicals but be sure to leave it a couple of days before stripping as dyes and stripping stuff don't work well I'm freshly conditioned hair. The conditioner sort of acts like a barrier to the hair and doesn't allow the dye/stripper to permeate.
Use a colour before? They strip your hair to its natural colour! Then either soak it in oil or conditioner and leave it in over night so it really soaked in! Then all you can do it use heat protection and try to avoid straightening/ curling it too much!

You can't repair damaged hair. If it's broken it's broken. Count your blessings, cut of the broke parts and lather the rest in oil overnight or at least a few hours. Forget commercial products, they're not as good as plain, old oil
Research how to die your hair with henna. Henna is a natural hair dye and it also works to make your hair healthier and thicker.
I would strongly recommend that you seek the advice from a professional hair stylist, before you do even more damage.
