I've had hbp since I was a young kid but it's never affected me. Last Monday I started getting a cold and I felt off. I felt off most nights after dinner. Friday I went to the doctors and it was 154/83 or something like that. Which I know isn't good, it used to be 140s at most. Then Sunday night I felt horrible so I took my blood pressure and it was 150s again. After a while I felt better and checked it and it was back to 130s which is normal for me. Then last night I felt absolutely horrible and my bp was 160 over 80 something. So my mom and I are trying to figure out why, im 16 by the way. We figured it has to be either the high sodium in pizza or caffeine so I'm taking today off caffeine to see. I just was thinking and realized it all started when I started summer school meaning I have to wake up at 7. I don't get to bed until 1 or later every night. So could it be that I'm super tired and it's causing hbp and anxiety? I've been able to sleep in for months getting on average 9-10 hours and now I'm getting Max 6 a night. So could this be causing it?
I don't really think it is. Unless you're noticing that less sleep is causing you anxiety like you said. But in general I don't think less sleep can spike blood pressure. Caffeine really can though. I have problems with low blood pressure so I drink caffeine here and there for that. I also get like 4-6 hours of sleep on average so by itself, less sleep shouldn't make it higher. If you don't mind me asking, are you in decent shape? Like do you do any sports or workout?
