I want to skip church, but my mom makes me go unless I have a fever. Is it possible to fool the thermometer?

She checks with a thermometer to make sure it's real but I think I can dress up in super warm clothes under my poofy sheets and she won't notice what I'm wearing.

I'm thinking like thermal underwear, fleece layer, and my ski outfit (pants and jacket), gloves, socks, under my bed sheets would it fool the thermometer?

Look, unless you are trying to make yourself really sick where you will feel like crap for days on end, I suggest that you don't do it at all. I don't know what your reason is to skip out on church unless one, you don't like it, or two you don't believe in the religion your in.

Honestly your mom is going to know. If she takes you to the doctor, he/she is bound to know that you lied and will tell your mother. Instead of lying to her, talk to her about your concerns about church. Tell her the truth. Don't beat around the bush, before she really finds out later on in life. As I have stated before: Why do you not want to go to church?

You need to tell your mother what you just said to me. Don't be in a religion or belief system pretending you are when your not. Your just going to hurt your family, your church and people you know. This is not a joke. Just tell her you don't want to go. Do you have any other parent or person you can speak to about this situation?

@Asker In a way it is, but at the same time she cannot force you to be in a religion or belief system you don't believe. You just need to simply tell her that.

And no it did not work. My immune system is weak and naturally because of lack of iron due to periods. Temperature is measures by the amount of stress triggers your body endures. Such as when you get a fever, a flu or cold, and phenomena your body is fighting off infection. Your body heat won't just raise because of thick clothing alone, in fact as you get hotter, your bodies main concern is trying to cool down, henceforth why you sweat.

You go to church not to just sit around. But to get spiritual feeding and to fellowship with other believers. Because when you don't get that, the Holy Spirit leaves you. And I'm saying that if you are raised as a Christian. If you don't believe in it, tell her now. Because she will question you or somebody in church will. Your mom is actively involved I take it. Somebody is going to know.

@Asker It is free will. If you don't believe in the faith, why pretend? It is your choice, but also your responsibility for what you know. Your mother cannot be held responsible for a choice you decided, when she already did her job raising you in the faith if she has. I'm not here to lecture you, as you are not my child. But if you keep doing this, your not going to like how you will be viewed. So you better do something about it, or this lie will continue to grow.

And if you are somebody who is a believer but just don't like the church setting then you have to tell her about your uncomfortably and perhaps you need to be in a different church. Other then that. YOU are responsible for your relationship with God, otherwise you just have religion. That's all I'm going to say. Or talk to your paster about it, a youth group leader, somebody in charge of the church. Your concerns is just as important so that they can find a way to make it better for you, so that you can get what you need

What I need is a mother that's not religious, and will listen to me. But I guess it just takes time. I'll try to convince my friends not to go to church either maybe together we can convince our parents.

@Asker I'm not saying for you to create a rebel against your parents. What I am saying is for you to talk to an adult at the church your in and tell them about your concerns. A religious parent is somebody who does not have a relationship with God themselves. Do you have a relationship with God? Do you hear his voice? Talk to him and not just pray? I am asking you this, because you do sound very confused and don't really know what you really want or what your purpose is.

@Asker You don't think I never have problems? I haven't been in church for years and it wasn't all be choice. My mother stopped going because of the rumors and lies about her. She ws church hurt for nearly all of my life. I have always wanted to go, but my father is not a Christian. I never really had Christian friends until I became an adult. Before my mother passed away recently she had to surrender her will and wants for God and own up to her mistakes. But despite my upbringing I still maintain a relationship with God. And what I'm seeing is error from your mother. If I had the chance to speak with her, I would tell her what I needed to say. Overall YOU and YOUR friends needs to be responsible in developing your relationship with him, just like you would do if your dating relationship with a boyfriend was failing. You mean to tell me you would just give up the relationship because it was boring? Or would you work it out because you LOVE him?

@Asker Then it sounds like to me that you never got saved. God is not to going to speak to a heart that's hardened or closed. Its not about voices in your head. He speaks to your heart. He communicates through people. From what your saying, I can see that you have no idea what it means to have a relationship with him because you never had it in the first place. And that is due to error in your church and your mother. You should not be like this, stagnate in your walk when you haven't even taken the first step.

I'm sorry that you and your friends have to go through this, but I just pray that you speak to an adult, not your friends about this situation. You need to be in a church where you are able to learn and truly experience what it means to be a Christian. However I cannot tell you what to do. Overall you need to go to a new church and say something. Not band together in rebellion, which is sinful. In the end she is still your mother. You still need to honor her.

My heart is open and soft, I'm in love with the world and all the goodness in it. I just don't believe there is a God. What did they believe in before they invented him? There were thousands of years before he was even invented... they were not bad people you know. I think we're done with Christianity though, it doesn't speak to younger people anyway

@Asker you have to humble yourself and truly knock on that door. He says that he will answer when you knock, if you seek him you will find him. God is very much real as you and I. He directs and orders my steps in my life. You have to ask him for yourself. It is not my job, the churches job or anybody else job but yours to ask and seek him. He is waiting for you to do something about it. But if you want to be childish, rebellious, etc he will not do anything.

That's like you crushing on some guy but you expect him to come and ask you out. God is very much interested in you. But why should he continue pursuing you when you don't WANT to pursue him? Remember that he is knows everything including whats truly lies in your heart, wither darkness or light. Wither truth or lies. That's why I'm telling you to not play games. She may get angry after a while, but it will be off your chest and you will have to decide what to do then. In the end if she doesn't believe in religion and truly loves God by having a relationship with him, its going to hurt her. But you should be praying asking God to help your mother understand in the difficult times your going through. In the end as I said before I can't tell you what to do, except try to help you. Wither you will regret this choice or not. You are still young, and will learn things the hard way. Not all is what it seems on the surface. Other than that, I leave your situation in his hands. If you cannot find one intelligent person and think that an entire congregation is boring, I'm tempted to say you are the dullard, not them. I've been to many different religious services, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Wiccan. In every single one I have always found intelligent and engaging people, even though I'm an atheist (well, technically agnostic).

@Bluemax No. Non-Denominational. I don't associate myself with any of them, nor do I believe in religion. I believe in having relationship with God, go to church to fellowship with other believers, and live out God's commandments to the best of my ability through his will. That's it.

Im a nurse and I've seen so many tricks that people have tried to fool medical tests for a variety of reasons. But the body always betrays you and any medical device even as simple as a thermometer can show us the truth

Drink hot water, for the days that i didn't want to go to school i did crazy stuff like making my body wet and standing naked in front of the cooler : and i was always one hundred per cent sure that i will be sick the next morning, you can try that if you want too.

Drink hot water (101-103 degrees) right before she takes your temperature, and keep some of it in your mouth. Then, put the tip of the thermometer in the water in your mouth.

For a long-term solution, I'd suggest telling her you don't want to go to church
