even if the flyers are skinny and small, it takes some effort to throw them up in the air and catch them. plus some of the flips and back tucks and hand springs are just crazy and I would be afraid of falling on my face but the cheerleaders at my school go the whole length of the court without stopping. that's pretty athletic so yes it is a sport
At my old high school it was certainly a sport. They practiced 5 days a week year round. Went to the National Championships I think every year I was in high school probably more. If your team only cheers on football and basketball games I wouldn't consider much of a sport. You have to compete to be a sport IMO.
I think competitive cheerleading is a sport, but the stuff you see at most high school football/bball games, no. The cheering and yelling doesn't make it a sport, but if it includes gymnastics then it most certainly is a sport.
If it's competitive, and you're doing all sorts of flips, and jumps, and blah blah blah. Yes. Not if you're just standing there doing a cart wheel every now and then and yelling random sh*t.

hell yea its a sport.
the physical things cheerleaders do are incredible.
if chasing a little white ball around for 18 hole is a sport then cheerleading sure is.
id like to see tiger woods do a healstretch, errr ummm ... on 2nd thought I really don't want to see that ill stick to seeing girls such as yourself ... its much more pleasurable to see
somedude555 is right. After high school, it is a sport. It takes strength, focus, practice, etc. to be the best. Plus, it's a highly active activity. Definitely a sport.
college cheerleading? yep.
middle and highschool? nah, just a popularity contest.
It can be a sport if it pushes you athletically and includes some measure of competition with other teams. If its just cheering at the games so that you wear the uniform to school, then no.
depends. If you do stunts then yes, but if you just sit there and look hot no way.
Yes, like some dude said after high school it is about who has the most skill plus, it can be competitive as well.
yea it is, takes still and years of practice to master some of those routines, not every girl can do you it.

It's a sport there's gymnastics invovled and it takes a lot of body strength
it's not really a sport. I can all that on my own time with cartwheels and round off and other things. the main concept of cheerleading is a popularity contest and for guys checking out girls
