No. People have depression for different reasons. For some there may have been a direct event that triggered it, for some it may be some hormonal imbalance and for others a combination or something else. There isn't always something you can do about it. If you have tried to get better and it doesn't happen it's not your fault. It doesn't mean you're a pussy. It's an illness. Just like people who get cancer aren't pussies because they got cancer or didn't survive it. I do however agree that people should have the right to assisted suicide if that's what they want. Not for the same reason as you though. I simply don't think people should have to choose between living a horrible life they don't want to live, where everyday is a living hell, and killing themselves in painful, scary, messy ways that might not even kill them but instead leave them with permanent physical damage, be it scares, brain damage, liver damage or whatever else. People put sick or injured animals to sleep with the argument that it's cruel to let them suffer, yet they do everything they can to not let a human who is in terrible psychological, and maybe physical, pain every day die even when that's what the people in question want. Humans who suffer can talk and communicate their wishes to die, animals can not, yet humans are not allowed to die but animals are. Yeah, animals and humans aren't really the same but the argument still stands. This is what I think anyway. I think people should have the right to get help to die in peaceful, safe, painless ways if that is what they really want.

So nihilistic. Its not the world view i have. I know what depression is like, you can't toughen it out. It requires happiness to overcome it. Our ancestors have faced many demons and prevailed, depression is just the another demon in another form. It is the enemy within that must be defeated. Suicide is the notion that we need to die to be set free of our pain, but really only a little part of us needs to die. The part that wants us to fail. The part that is slowly killing us, the part that is fed by the decadence of society, the degeneration of our spirit. It is a disease, a mental illness which dies by loving ourselves and accepting ourselves and rejecting the materialistic decadent cancerous way of thinking which only wants us to fill a void. Filling the void with materialistic vices, distractions, mindless entertainment, wanting more likes on a picture. We must find meaningful ways of living, we need self fulfilment. No material vice can grant us that but acceptance and an ethos of empathy can. Empathy for ourselves. Love is the bond which binds people together, be it in war with your comdrades or in a relationship with a partner. But how can we form relationships with one another if the relationship with ourselves has been neglected for so long? Work towards self improvement one little step at a time and love yourself.
As a depressed guy, there are things in my life that I can do nothing about, and they are making me depressed. So no, its not always the case. As fir suicide, who cares if its legal or not, nobody goes "i wanna kill myself, but im not going to since its a crime". I mean you can't be punished in any way

This is literally on point. We live in a capitalist society where we define someone's worth by their effectiveness as a worker, being immobilised by mental illness just make you unproductive and ergo worthless in terms of societal value. We aren't going to provide help to most who suffer with depression unless they can pay out the ass for it so euthanasia really is the next most reasonable response. Empathy by itself with no systemic structured response just makes the people in question come off as fake and performative. We don't really give a fuck it's just bullshit to make bleeding hearts get through the rest of their day. The only thing I really disagree with is the idea that those who follow through on killing themselves are pussies, they aren't those of us who lose the nerve or can't finish, we're the ones truly deserving of contempt.
Sounds like he's saying he'd be willing to use protection for you, implying that he has strong feelings for you because he would not normally agree to this for any other girl.
No... I think everyone gets depressed sooner or later. I've never taken any anti-depressants so I don't know if they actually work. Alcohol is only a temporary fix.
No, depression is something that is hard to control, especially for me. If depression makes us pussies, then oh well. Hopefully it will be leave us alone, sometime.
