If you want to lose weight, don't starve yourself! Eat healthier! If you simply deprive your body of calories, you also deprive your body of nutrients. This will cause your body to basically eat itself. Yes that will cause you to lose weight but you'll also feel like absolute **** in the process. Drink more water, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and stick to lean meats. Instead of eating 3 big meals a day, eat 4-5 small meals a day. This will get your metabolism in a higher gear and constantly keep your body in digestion mode (which burns a lot of calories). Also, running 20-30 mins a day will do something for the first week and then your body will get used to it and running won't do anything since it basically becomes muscle memory. try starting at 20 mins, and every time you run, run for 2 extra minutes. so day 1 would be 20 mins, 2 would be 22, 3 would be 24, etc... That way your body has to work harder and harder thus burning calories.
Good Luck!

If you want the best results talk to a personal trainer/nutritionist. They will be able to devise a plan specifically for you. Yeah, it will cost some money, but the results will be much better.
Remember, nutrition is just as important (if not more so) than exercise.
Don't worry so much about calories and dieting. Eat your fruits and veggies, don't overeat. Eat until you are full and then stop. Cut out the snacking when reading, watching tv/movies, etc. No more soda, coffee, instead drink water and fresh juice. The running will definitely definitely help. You won't notice results right away, so don't get discouraged but by the time summer ends, with all that running and healthy eating, you're going to be so toned and gorgeous!

I'd say if you stick with it and do it everyday you'll see results. All I do is toss in some exercise if I feel like it(I'm not just chubby I'm obese. :/) and I lose weight so easy. Going from no exercise to exercise works your body hard in my opinion.
A healthy weight loss is 1.5 to 3 lbs every two weeks just FYI. Also be sure to give whatever muscles youve worked a day of rest to recover and build (to give more definition) and to avoid injury.
