Do you mean colored lenses? If so, definitely go to an eye doctor to fit the best for your eyes. For example, I have an astigmatism, meaning my eyes are a little squished in their sockets. I have forgotten the brand name but the ones I got were specific for people with astigmatism to sit on my eyeball better. As for color, you just have to try them out. Sometimes it's hard to tell what they will look like when put over your own eye color.
Remove your lenses each night before bed. Your eye doc will give you a case to keep them in, and get a good no-rub solution (I like the target brand). A lot of lenses need to be thrown out after a month, or else proteins from your eyes will build up on them and make it tough to see.
Also: do NOT get contacts with designs on the irises. My doctor told me that those are very bad for the health of your eye.

The doctor will guide you. I prefer the soft contacts, they are supposed to be taken out nightly. None of them will last a year.
