Preventing it isn't just about preventing it at work. Prevention is an all day job. I type with a normal keyboard and play computer games after work, and here's my advice based on my experiences:
- Using an ergonomically shaped keyboard, type with it on your lap. Putting the keyboard on something higher or further away (like a desk/counter top) makes most people put more weight on their fore arms. This increases pressure in the Carpal Tunnel.
- DON'T use a padded wrist support for using the mouse or keyboard. This increases pressure in the Carpal Tunnel. DON'T put your
-If you have to type on a desk top, your wrists and palms should be in the air, above the desk / counter top and as flat as possible.
-Whenever you get the chance (not just when you're at work or taking a break), flex your wrists and stretch out the tendons. Ex: when you're at home, watching TV. Or when you wake up.

Do I have it no but my mother does. She has it in both hands and all the time dropping things. Surgery didn't help my mother it did in one hand but not in the other. :( the one it didn't help they tried a second time but still no good. what caused it I am not sure I was young when all this happened.
Yes.had the surgery and it went away. Repetive movement caused it. It defiant go away. It just get worst over time. Unless you completely stop doing what caused it which is unrealistic.
