What worked for me was going to the dermatologist and doing the daily AM& PM routine she prescribed for me (i.e. wash with prescribed facial wash, toner, moisturizer).
Also being really patient and not putting so much on my face also helped. The medication will work if you use it AS PRESCRIBED.tMy face is now cleared up. So goodluck!
Google the asprin home remedy...works like a charm.
If you need specific and professional system and don't care that the set is girlie go and get a clinique set. They hav a special soap, peroxide type liquid to spot treat zits, and lotion that clear up nicely..i personally vouch for em:)

Walgreen's offers a great ProActiv alternative that's like $15. It's the 3 bottle pack. If you think your acne is more serious, a dermatologist is probably the way to go. But try the Walgreen's stuff first.
im a sophomore in hs and I had it for 3 years I always used the acne stuff but it would always come back, I found out that washing your face with a bar of soap one a day in the shower really helps! good luck

Drink a sh*t tonne of water and get out in the sun a lot.
stay away from dairy products. But you should really see a derm, they can work wonders
