How do you tell a guy to have better hygiene without being rude?

I seriously want to know I'm getting grossed out by my bf's hygiene I don't want to be rude but I seriously want him to take care of himself, I asked him to shave because it was getting horrible but I really want him to brush his teeth for god's sake I can't take it! right now I really want to go down to the store buy a tooth brush and some mouth wash and do it myself! help me!

my boyfriend and I are long distance so he comes over on weekends but usually he gets somewhat involved in hygienic routines. since we started dating over 2 1/2 years ago I would always say lets have a "brushing teeth party" and basically we've called it that ever since so we will just brush our teeth together. if I shower, he will usually shower after me. if I am flossing ill hand him a piece of floss and he will use it.

its like if you sit a tray of cut up fruits and veggies with a bowl of dip; people will eat it instead of going and finding something unhealthy to eat. do hygienic things around him and get him involved in them, this way its more of a couple thing instead of making it seem like you're turned off by his hygiene or lack there of. if that doesn't get it across to him don't be negative or irritated you can hint at things like saying "i love the smell of crest mint toothpaste its so sexy" or hand him a piece of gum. there are many different approaches you could take to this, which you choose is up to you.

i've recenly did do something like that more of the shave and pluck and you know at first he wasn't sure because he never let people touch him but I told him I swear it will give you a lot more potential and make him look bettr and it did really help

yeah I just feel kind of clingy, so I let him know why I'm so clingy and all so I hope he understands it. I'm used to see poor hygiene from a couple people that I know some after 5 years still don't understand but I just feel like I can stop him from that issue

You can't do this without being a bitch. Your best option is to subtly tell him. You can buy him minty gum or when he does brush his teeth compliment his breathe (weird I know, but it'll work).

actually this might just work I make a list of ways I can do it, I'm going slowly tho he asked me why I did it so often my answer was it's for your health and he knows I'm all about health and such so I hope he will understand

Tell him that if he doesn't go brush his teeth, that you refuse to kiss him. Tell him that you refuse to go out with him, go over to his house or have him over until he showers, shaves and makes himself presentable for you. If that doesn't do the trick, have the conversation with him that basically says I go to a lot of effort to be clean and well groomed for you so I'd appreciate that in return. If he still doesn't budge on it, then I'd say it's time to move on because it looks like irreconciable differences to me.

the I refuse to kiss him might actually work, I do have to take a step more though he just seem like he isn't confident you know, right ow everything is fine BUT his teeth, I work on making him brush them so far everything worked out fine but the teeth I have to take it a step closer at some points I had to take it into a blunt situation where I was totally honest with it, but I didn't want to be rude and so I made it into a joke, I think that your tricks might help a lot tho thank you!

yeah so as I did today I went down to wal-mart and actually looked around for something and yeah I defenitly will try to do like I said I would, because obviously that is something he can change and I've seen a couple of comments saying dump him but I won't dump him for this single problem that can be changed, plus I'm helping him more than I'm helping myself
