Some sources say that it's good to eat, others say that cheese has more cons than pros.

Dairy today is not what it was 100 years ago.
It is PASTURED (heated to kill any bacteria) which also destroys nutrients. It destoys many nutrients, up to 50-80 of some of the vitamins. All the enzymes in milk necessary for digestion and assimilation are gone. Think you are lactose intolerant? This may not be true, it might be that you need RAW milk. Many lactoseintolerant people who try raw milk have no problems. We used to drink raw milk years ago.
It is HOMOGENIZED, meaning, all the fat particles are processed to make them all the same size so that they don't rise to the top of the container. Many studies have shown a link between homogenization and heart disease. The body cannot process these weird fat particles and they lead to hardened arteries. Milk never used to be homogenized.
Milk IS NOT good for your bones and teeth. Oh but it has calcium! That's correct, but the pasteurization changes it's structure making it less absorbable AND the worst problem of all is the protien in it acidifies your blood. The best neutralizer is calcium, and so your body pulls calcium from your bones and teeth. The truth is, the more milk you drink, the more likely likely you are to develop osteoporosis as studies have shown.
It's grain fed, hormones, and steroids. This all also leads to heart disease and cancer.
WHEN IS IT HEALTHY?
Raw, unpasteurized, organic grain fed. This makes it VERY high in vitamin A, D, and calcium. Vitamin A and D is very important in preventing cavities. According to Dr. Price, who studies many cultures who consumed dairy, Raw and fermented dairy people never had bad teeth or cavities. As soon as they became westernized, they did.
My stance is today's dairy is bad, but it can be good if made right.
o.O
Who told you cheese and other dairy products were unhealthy? And for what reason could they possibly be bad for you?
First off, cheese (and most dairy products in general) has a very basic pH level. So if you're drinking acidic juices (like a caprisun or orange Hi-C), eating cheese right after balances the pH levels in your mouth rather than letting the acidic pH levels slowly decay your teeth away. So great for your teeth! Plus it's a good source of calcium which is even better for your teeth!
Secondly, cheese contains a good source of -- Vitamin A, Vitamin B-12, Phosphorus, Zinc, protein, and calcium.
There is no controversy about dairy being bad for you (unless you're allergic or can't digest it). I'm not sure where you got that idea from, but dairy has a very established history in nutritional science as a great source of nutrition particularly for the growing youth.
Beyond allergies and weak stomachs what makes milk bad?
High fat?
Fat and carbs are just synonyms for the word ENERGY. If you don't use the energy of course you get fat.
However, milk is a nutritionally dense substance. Meaning, many other foods will not provide as much nutrition for the same amount of calories. Lettuce may have little to no calories, but it also has little to no nutritional value.
Many athletes are proof that Milk is great for you.
GOMAD (gallon of milk a day) is a long well known well established nutrition plan for athletes. Many people see great gains in strength by incorporating a gallon of milk into their daily diet as a means of increasing muscle and bone recovery from high intense workouts. Why are athletes getting significantly strong drinking milk? Because it's nutritional!
Why does it have a bad reputation amongst non-athletes? Because anything that contains calories is bad for someone who don't use them!
And for modern day lazy journalists who don't work out... their solution to staying fit and in shape is eating less. And they advocate their malnutrition to the world as a serious means of staying healthy. Yes you can eat less and get slimmer. Doesn't mean it's healthy. Milk is good for you. If you don't burn enough calories to afford a glass of Milk a day, then you need to seriously reboot your lifestyle and start working out more-- not eliminate dairy as a food source.
Cheese is fine unless someone is eating it on everything. The key is balance, I eat cheese a few times a week. I usually just drink milk (1%) to get some calcium. I have thyroid issues and take a medication that can because osteoporosis, so I try to get some calcium in me.
I think that cheese is good as long as it is mixed in the diet with other things. Having lots of fruits and veggies, and some meat, and then some dairy daily is the best thing. Variety is key :)
I believe dairy's good for you. Not that I've done extensive research or anything. And maybe I just like to believe so because I love dairy products, it's probably the only slightly healthy thing I eat.
And I've sort of stopped listening to all these contradicting resources, they're always quick to point out the bad things about every food you eat. I just like to enjoy my food.

It's the same as anything else - unless you eat too much of it, or it's the only thing you eat, there's no problem. A diet can be unhealthy - an individual foodstuff cannot.
If you want to eat cheese, eat cheese.
Personally, I don't really like it except on pizza.
I like it, but I'll only eat it on rare occasions. We have a food truck in town that sells Grilled Cheese sandwiches only (and tomato soup). It's so good, I have to get one if I'm on the street. But only on cheat days.
I like Feta sprinkled on salad. Somehow it seems a bit less artery clogging. Meditteranean Diet, you know.
I love cheese. A lot. Still, I don't eat that much of it, as it is high in fat and works against my workout routine. I try to avoid excessive amounts of any animal products only because so many of them these days are shot full of hormones and antibiotics. I don't believe that's healthy. That doesn't mean I don't love the way it tastes!
Frequently.
The way I figure, cheese is probably more healthy then a double cheeseburger which are often LOADED with preservatives, chemical flavorings, etc etc.
So I suppose it's on the lower end of the healthy scale, yet way high up on the Fast-food/unhealthy scale.
I love cheese. If I eat cheese on a low carb diet in limited amounts I am okay but too much does make me feel fat and bloated. I love it though. Basically I eat some but I know I have to limit it.
I don't like cheese.(: It tastes icky to me.
Yet somehow pizza and macaroni are exceptions to that...I'm strange.
The original cheez-its are okay-any other flavor is gross to me.:p
I love cheese, I'll eat it until I die, I don't care what anyone says.
Except cream cheese and cottage cheese. Yuk.
I rarely eat cheese, drink milk, eat yogurt or icecream. I don't really like most dairy products anyway so it's not a hard choice for me.
i hate cheese. it's doesn't taste right to my taste buds.
It'll bind you like a book...
LOOOOVE it! especially Provolone!
