Running? How much does it do?

I've started running again for about 2 weeks now. I'm feeling pretty good. But how much does running really do? Sometimes I go out in the neighborhood and others I use the treadmill. But I set it on incline and I run for a while.. I also do weights and dance and stuff too.. but how good is running really? And how can I keep my bloating down? Because when I run I tend to bloat up and I don't know why. My muscles and everything.
