What obstacles do you think keeps people from adopting a healthier lifestyle when it comes to food and physical activity?

I know for me, reflecting on how my immediate family is, I noticed one vital thing:
my parents eat for taste, not for health.
I've honestly never heard my mom talk about "eat this; this is good for you". The most I've heard her say to one of my sibling "why aren't there any vegetables on your plate"? (in a passive fashion)
Please give some input about someone you know, and why you think they struggle to adopt a healthier overall lifestyle.
