I suffer from work-out-laziness too, I confess. But lately I've been working really hard on getting the required amount of exercise and working on specific things to get healthier.
Here's a few things that I'm working on that are starting to pay off:
- Sign up for some kind of class or sport. If you make a commitment to do spinning, soccer, etc, a specific time every week, you will be less likely to bail.
- Have a friend who goes with you on a regular schedule. Say you and Josh go lift weights every Sunday at 3. You will be less likely to skip, because you don't want to ditch him.
- Take the stairs and walk everywhere.
- Lift weights, do crunches, or go on a tredmill while reading or watching tv.
- Reward yourself after a workout. If you do 45 min on the bike, then you can watch an episde of your favorite show (or something). That way, you train your brain to think that working out will get you good things.
- Unless you are clinically obese, don't worry about how much you weigh. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week, and don't obsess over measuring your waist, the size of your bicepts, etc. Pay attention to how good you feel after a workout, and you will notice that you eventually start feeling healthier. You will start to look better also. Concentrate on your health rather than specific numbers.
- Find a way to work out that is actually FUN. Personally, I hate lifting weights and running. I have a hard time motivating myself to do it. But I signed up for a water workout class and zumba (latin dancing aerobics) class, and I get my muscle tone and cardio at the same time while having fun. I only have to go to the gym once a week.
- Make a playlist of music that gets your heart pumping. Personally, I feel like a total badass when working out to classic rock, for example. Whatever makes you feel powerful and fun will help you stay movitated.

Start out with baby steps. Do 5 situps the first day and 10 the next day. You don't have to run a marathon in the first week!
Write out goals for youself where you can see them every day, and make them manageable
Meeting women is a good motivator to get in shape right? But getting the girl is about what's on the inside of you too, not just your outside appearance.
Taking the approach of getting strong to beat up a girl's boyfriend is not a good reason. How about getting in great shape to meet an attractive single woman. Beating up a guy doesn't really turn many women on!
Well see that's your problem. All I see is "I want to impress women". I'm sure that works for some people, but never really did for me. For 99 percent of my life I've been overweight and lazy, and one day it was just kinda like "enough" ya know? But I'm doing it for me because I like the confidence that comes with being more in shape, and I like the ability to be more physical and have the stamina to do stuff. Women are no longer my driving force in life. Of course being more attractive is a nice plus, but it's more of a bi-product to getting in shape. I like being able to look in the mirror and go "I made that". Structure is pretty important though. At least for me. I'm doing a set program with it's own workout routine and dietary plan. To start off with I needed a day to day type of structure, but now it's habit. When I don't feel like doing it, I don't bother thinking about it. I just turn on the DVD and go for it. I know in the back of my head it gets me results because I've seen and can feel them so I know it's worth my while.
All that being said you sound incredibly immature when it comes to women, so maybe it's your personality you need to work on more than your body.
Music all the way!

Look at videos of shredded guys that get all the girls. After seeing videos of Zyzz's transformation, I have been motivated and have had compliments on my body. Being naturally lean my definition was easy to get and maintain from working out which most girls seem to like over mass. I however want to gain mass. Listen to music and think of all the sweet sugar walls you could be having if you were jacked.
The way I see it, motivation is only a factor in the beginning. Once it has become integrated into your daily life as a routine, which happens after roughly 1-2 months, motivation no longer becomes an issue. So the real question here is how do you get through that first month or two?
If you're not seeing noticeable results within a couple weeks then you're either doing something wrong (could be in the gym or in the kitchen) or you chose to do a workout that is much lighter in intensity for the sake of keeping it enjoyable.
The problem is that, really, your only motivation revolves around girls. That's not enough. You need to do it for yourself, for self-pride, because you respect yourself. If your sole motivation for working out is because you want a better body to get laid, you're barking up the wrong tree. There are techniques I could give you to get you back into it, but I have to know. Do you have any other motivation?Okay, I should send you a picture of my total knee replacement scar I got when I was 46. If that isn't motivation I don't know what is. Every time I take a shower and wash my knee I see that scar. That's motivation for me to not have to get the other knee done. I got my right knee done. My advice is to think of the health benefits. I looked at your age and I believe you are 30 to 35. I started to lose my metabolism when I was between that age. You will see things start to change regarding your body and energy but there are ways to combat that. World of videos on YouTube. Good luck!
good music really gets me going like instead of dancing I really wanna be 'moving' you know so I just get on the treadmill or go out for a run/walk and get pumped.
also get some good shoes. there's nothing like a comfortable pair of sneakers that makes you wanna walk and run.think of all the pain, frustration, set-backs, losses in your life
