how will this impact my health? will this slow down my metabolism because I will essentially lose muscle?
answer the question alone please without giving me advice that I already know. Thanks everyone!
It depends on how much, and what you are eating. If you are not eating enough, then going to the gym can actually be worse for you. Most people do lose muscle any time they lose weight. I wouldn't worry about it too much in the short term. You need to make sure you eat the right amount of complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats like olive oil. Don't starve yourself, or cut out all of any one type of calorie. You need all three types in order to be healthy.
For the best long term results you will need to exercise. If you want to reshape your body, you really need to be doing both cardio, and weightlifting. Maybe these are something you can work on after you lose the weight. Otherwise if you have the body shape of a pair, and you lose weight, you will just look like a smaller pear.
not a pear but an hourglass..and I was thinking the exact same thing as you..i could lose the weight and than tone after :D
Already an hourglass? You shouldn't have much problem then. Normally I see women starving themselves in an effort to reshape their body. I can't seem to get through to them that it doesn't work that way. I didn't know if that was the case with you are not. Doesn't sound like it though. Good luck with your weight loss goal.
aww thanks!
Its difficult to not give you advice you already know without knowing what you already know.
What types of food do you tend to overeat on?
How have weight loss attempts gone in the past?
How much control do you have over food? Do you prepare your own meals?
1. everything I can get my hands on lol but mostly healthy stuff (nuts, milk, even vegetables, I over-eat everything)
2. for a few years I've been trying to lose weight and going to the gym and stuff..sometimes I'm really good with my eating but I can't lose as much as I want so now I am going to severely restrict my eating.
3. hardly no control. for right now, I always have the word 'control' in my head lol..imthinking about writing it on my forearm
message me and I'll link you to an e-book.
The way to minimize muscle loss is to keep protein levels up while slashing carbs and fat. This has the added benefit of making you full - protein takes longer to digest then anything else.
The advantage of a fairly severe diet is you can probably have a limited number of cheat meals, which personally, I find psychologically easier then mildly dieting all the time.
re; 'control' I meant, do you pick all your own food, or does someone else?
Its possible to lose weight but it will definitely take time. It'll help you lose fat but not tone/get fit though. I think you should really try to incorporate both if possible, its hard to get into but you can do it. You'll see the best results if you do this.
omggggg
your answer was irrelevant to my question
Dont just answer whatever crap comes to your head. If you actually read and thought about my question, I doubt you would come to the same response. Think about something legitimate to say rather than useless info I already know:( Don't worry, you are not the only one! its just annoying you know!
I never said you were wrong. You are totally misunderstanding. Obviously I know what you said is right and for the best, but it has nothing to do with my question. I asked what would happen to my body if I stopped going to the gym and restricted my portions. your response was that I should just try to do both. LIke I KNOW that! lol But whatever this argument is over.

this will slow down your metabolism since working out increases it
its not just due to losing muscle though
working out causes your body to work harder by lifting weights, running etc.. and then it has to spend time repairing the tissues which requires more work
if you are inactive for 2 weeks your body starts losing muscle mass
people who workout are also said to live longer since they have a healthier heart
blood is being circulated properly throughout the body etc..
increases chances of injury in the long run since your body won't be used to certain motion
losing flexibility in your body
working out is also a stress reliever
Ideally you should be doing both. But if you can only focus on one for whatever reason, then focusig in nutrition is the day to go. It won't get you toned or fit but if you do it properly you will lose fat. Really though you should be doing both both.
my mindset is bad I think its like "ohyou went to the gym today so you can eat this..or, oh you go to the gym, so you can eat this etc etc" and this clearly did not work for me cause I stayed the same, even gained weight when I STARTED going to the gym. so now, I am like "you don't go the gym anymore, therefore, you can't eat that"LMAO
my mom lost 10 kg's just by changing her eating...
the best is a combination of both... burn fat , and prevent new one from getting too comfy in your body :)
you don't really need to 'work out' in the gym . just walking , jogging , swimming and riding your bike :)
Are you not going to the gym but working out at home...

...or not increasing your activity AT ALL?

If your answer is the 2nd option, I must ask why you are refraining from physical activity.
you obviously did not read the whole thing so why did you answer
