How do I stop giving in to sugar cravings? Serious question..

I've gone form a huge binge eater of eating for no reason and consuming mass quantities of sugary candy all the way to now being an emotional sugar eater. This is progress torwards becoming a normal person, so I feel a bit proud.

Anyway what should I do when sugar cravings strike? Today I was craving chocolate and literally couldn't think straight, I felt tired and sleepy and really felt the need for a sugar rush. This is an emotional issue and I need ideas on how to deal with it.
