Is it really so bad that I ate fries while on a diet ?

I feel horrible. I started this diet a couple of days ago and I followed it intensely .. I also work out 20 minutes a day (intense running) I know its not too much , but it's a start. Anyway today I woke up really late and I only ate oats and milk in the morning and I was starving .. I was planning to go to the kitchen and make a fruit salad but there were no fruits just some left over home made fries ( not more than a cup I swear ) .. and I just grabbed some diet pita bread , cut it in half and put a loooot of lettuce and the fries.. and I feeeeeel so baddd, it was an impulse I know .. but will this screw my whole diet ? will I wake up tomorrow with a big belly ? I am not fat by the way .. I'm not flabby or anything .. please please tell me it's not so bad :(

to be clear.. I ate oats and milk in the morning and then I slept .. and then I woke up at night and that's when the disaster happened :S
