Is my belly button ring infected?

I just got my belly button pierced 4 days ago and it hurts to sit up, and it's a little red at the top ball. I clean it 2 times like the piercer said, I use antibacterial soap and sea salt spray stuff. But it's really sore. It also doesn't have crusties like the piercer said it should have clear little crusties, but mine doesn't. Is this normal or is it infected?

I would give it a few more days. What I used to do was in the shower, I would pull the barbell upward and soap it and then move the piercing up and down so that I am washing the piercing and the barbell. See if that helps. If that doesn't help, go back to your piercer and see what you can do. You could possibly be allergic or sensitive to the metal.

Possibly infected but it's more likely that it's just the body getting used to a foreign object, it will be sore for a little while and everyone's bodies are different so leave it a few more days and if you're that concerned, go see your piercer so they can take a look and tell you what to do next!

I had that happen to a home iercing of my ear =(

It turned green so I had to let it heal...

Sounds like a normal bodily reaction when you stick a piece of metal where it shouldn't be.

i wouldn't use salt sea spray, the salt in it prevents it from healing, didn't the piercer tell you not to swim in the sea for a few weeks? and I think antibacterial soap will dry the skin so don't use it. when you shower don't put any soap on it the water is enough. Buy Chlorhexidine and lay down and pour a lot over the piercing til it fills your belly button and let it soak for like 15 min or more and do this like 3-4 times a day, I did that and it healed in no time

Mine got infected right after too! I used hydrogen peroxide on Q-tips like 3 times a day, or whenever it had puss (ik gross!) it hurt so bad but just keep cleaning! it should go away, & also don't touch it a lot because of the bacteria & germs on your hands! good luck :)

I think mine was red for a while after I got it done. Is there puss coming out of it? Make sure your cleaning it very well and being careful when you put clothes on and do stuff.

No go to the doctors the piercer does not know about infections and can't give you a prescription for antibiotics in case you need one.

It got better then got reinfected again ha ha cause my friend pushed me into a lake and it's all better now.
