Am I being too picky?

Okay, so I go to an orthodontist team in MD, and they are alright, seem like they have an attitude but whatever...they do their jobs. SAVE for the fact that I have to keep reminding, and it's usually two specific specialist that I want to have a person that wears both GLOVES AND A MASK when you're putting your hands in my face.

I don't think that's too much to ask...because they have a degree, they went to school, they have common sense - Even their boss wears one when she's just going around to check on the rest of the patients in the room, and changes her gloves each time. I always think that one of them are going to say well, "Why blah blah" but they dont, they just pucker up and do what I ask...

But my question and concern is, that why should I HAVE to ask someone to do that? That's disgusting, you don't know what's in my mouth, I don't want to smell your breath or particles in my open mouth,...There was even this one time this lady was sniffling and stuff and she had the audacity to not wear a mask or gloves - I told her, "Can you put them on? I don't want to get sick"

These are young people too! So old school docs are not the issue here...

It's because of the young people. In case you haven't noticed. A large portion of people younger than 30 are completely useless. If you have a problem with it again, phone the Division of Health & Safety anonymously and let them know that the some of the orthodontists are not wearing the proper equipment. They won't be long whipping their assistants into shape.

lol I get the gist of your comment - though most are over 30...And I even had a dentist, when I first got my braces in 3rd grade, he was about 60 and he would do the work w/o gloves too...Being 8 years old, you don't really say much, because of intimidation but I HATED it...you know? Thanks

You're totally right. These are safety precautions that many professionals in all fields will find themselves neglecting when they get too cozy.

You shouldn't have to remind them. It is their obligation to look after your comfort and safety.

That is disgusting. I work in a dental office and we always wear gloves and masks. Really that is OSHA standard and should be being followed. You should not have to ask they should want to be doing that because it is actually more for the employees protection.
