Buy sweet fruits. They're healthier than snacks and pastries, and are sweet.
Also, get something like splenda (the diabetic safe sugar) and add it to things to curb your sweet tooth cravings. Like, if you have a healthy cereal in the morning, have some of that.
Lastly, and this is the one that most Americans find hardest to do for some reason - give up the soda and drinks of that nature. Flavoured milk, whatever.
Try drinking regular full fat milk. Blend it with fruit to make a smoothie.
Generally, the American public is anti-dairy for some reason, always going for half-fat, low-fat, two percent or some other variant, which is not really like milk.
Milk may be fatty, but the amount of fat in milk is trivial compared to snacks. It's also a really really healthy drink (in moderation). And I personally found that it was a huge boon in giving up junk food.
It took a while for me to really like the taste though, so I used to blend it with a few strawberries (only a few though) and it really made a difference.

You actively stop yourself. Do this by obviously not buying as much junk, but also avoiding situations where you might be tempted to indulge your sweet tooth.
It's perfectly fine though to have a treat every once in a while, so just as long as you eat nutritious foods and stay on top of your workouts, eventually you'll feel the difference and not be so drawn to the bad stuff.
Good luck!
Atkins shakes are good.
I love to keep whip cream in the freezer. It gives it an ice cream like feeling. It is surprisingly very low in carbs/sugar. Of course you can't eat the whole thing, but you can have enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. They make other flavors of whip cream like chocolate, but not sure if the sugar is too high in those or not.
Try making healthy desserts using fruit and honey instead of sugar like pear or apples with low fat natural yogurt and honey it's delicious with a bit of muesli sprinkled on top try doing something eles as a replacement to take you're mind off thoughs foods.
