Fresh sweat is packed with feromones and hormones. It is one of the strongest aphrodisiacs in the world - and it provably works. It may be unconscious for most of us, particularily the feromones, but it is there as a basis for our whole physiology.
As an extention to that our sense of smell will associate other odours with the pheromones and the activities they go along with. No wonder he likes having your conscious scent (the deodorant) around when he obviously has unconsciously associated it with the strong chemical signals our body sends out all the time.
Your guy is also more acutely aware of scent than most people since he knows and realizes how strongly the odours and signals of fresh sweat impacts us.
The reason we tend to think of sweat as something nasty, is because we associate sweat with the bad smell of bacteria that grows on our bodies if we do not wash and clean after a good sweat. Sweat really isn't.

We sweat when we have sex, he's probably just insecure and likes having a constant reminder of you.
That's up to you to decide if your okay with an insecure man though.
If you think that's weird - In a bar recently a guy in the group of people I was with, not a friend or anything just an acquaintance, saw my deodorant in my bag and proceeded to take it out and use it and then other guys asked him for it, they were passing it around like it was with joint while I was sitting there in bewilderment, WTF?. I was told it because its nicer then the mens stuff. Ok!Guys are odd
It's pretty weird, but I think it's okay. Smell is the strongest trigger of memory and being drawn to the smell of a person or thing usually constitutes a strong emotional attachment to the person or thing.

I really like how women smell, but I totally don't have an urge to use women's perfume on myself!
Yeah, he just likes the smell is all, maybe because it reminds him of you.
