What do I need to do? How do I maintain it? How do I need to workout? What should my workout consist of? Do I literally have to map out what I am gong to eat for each week?
Most importantly when should I see a 10 pound result?
Well I haven't really lost a lot of weight. When I quite competetive sport I gained 15 lbs and then I lost it again so I'm back to 120 now.
When I started losing it I didn't have a lot of eypierence with that kind of stuff, so I tried weight watchers. It's a good programm but it has it's flaws.
Then I switched to just eating healthy and only eating when you're hungry. That worked better for me. I didn't know this blog when I started but this link pretty much sums up what I did to lose weight and do currently to keep it. I think the most important part is that your change your attitude. You're not on a diet you're changing your lifestyle, forever.
No you don't need to map out what you eat everyday just eat healhty and only eat when you're hungry, stop when you're satisfied. Stay away from processed food, I can't stretch this enough. You'd be surprised about the amount of sugar and fat one can of baked beans contain. You can eat fast food, like once a month. And of course you can eat a piece of choclate or a scope of ice cream every now and then, but generaly don't eat processed food. If you need recipe idea check out those blogs link link link
It's recommended to lose no more than one lb per week, so you should lose 10 lbs no earlier than after 10 weeks
Good information.. How did weight watchers go? I seem to remember an article voting weight watchers as the best plan to lose weight
Well as said in my first answer, I think it has many flaws. At first it worked good for me, I lost about one lb per week but it really slowed down so that soon I only lost one lb every 4 weeks and I think that's just too much effort.
If you ate superunhealthy before this will absolutley teach you to eat better. But if you're the kind of person that already knows how to eat healthy, I think it teaches you more bad habbits than good. Like it's allowed to eat as much pasta, rice or potatoes as you want for a fixed number of points. That rather encourages people to stuff themselves instead of listening to their bodies. And I feel at least with the old plan, you ran a high risk of not eating enough fat and protein because they have too many points. But is the most filling and the healthiest (at least protein)
Also I feel you're likley to get lazy with points, so you will live off 9 -10 recipes for months. Which isn't bad if you if you get enough of everything, but I just like more variety. It's also rather hard to eat out unless you got to fast food because you never really know how many points something has.
DYou want to lose 45 percent of your body weight. A bit much.
I have shed 30% twice. I'm there again. Here it is.
Cut out all sugars starches chips cereal granola beer wine rice tacos bread down to 50 to 60 grams per day of carbs. Plenty of counters out there.
Alcohol from hard liquor converts to sugar. Why I'm fat. My diet is moderate.
Eat chicken and lean (broiled) beef and pork.
Except within 60 gram limit:
Green vegetables. No carrots potatoes.
No brown/yellow beans
Expect little or no results for two weeks or more. Your body will know it is being threatened and will conserve energy. You must start exercising at the same time to over rule it. Walk a minimum of 2 miles a day. 4 to six when you have time. You will get mean and your libido will suffer.
Once you get in the groove you should lose a pound every three days. You will have setbacks where your body will take on water and erase some of your successes but then you will have OMG! Days where 4 pounds just disappear.
You want to lose 75 pounds. Plan on six months minimum. May take 9.
started at 190, lost 40lbs. I did p90x along with kickboxing. if your looking to lose weight, cardio cardio cardio. interval training is the best. you can do this with a treadmill/elliptical, or even just running. go all out for 20seconds, then coast for 40seconds, repeat for 15 minutes, or 15 intervals. drop pop, I drank lots of gatorade and water. eat a big breakfast, then progressively smaller meals. before dinner have some sort of healthy snack with a glass of water, and you won't be tempted to eat as much for dinner. do not skip meals or starve yourself to lose weight, that's not remotely healthy. I liked eating stuff high in carbs for breakfast, then low carbs for dinner. use colorful plates, it tricks your mind into thinking your fuller. if you want more info I can go more into detail, otherwise goodluck!

Stay busy so that you're not 24/7 focused on food.
Also, you really need to cut out the refined carbohydrates loaded with high fructose corn syrup: Pop-tarts, Cookies, White Bread, Potato Chips, French Fries, etc. Stick with whole grains like wheat bread and load up on vegetables and fruits.
This might just involve simple swaps or little additions to originals. If you gave me an idea of what you usually eat, I could probably give you healthier versions of your favorites.
Portion size is key too, but you will find that once you start eating healthier, you don't need as much food because you're not constantly craving things.
Work out every day, if you can. Even 30 min walking 4 days/wk + lift 2-3 days would help.
i have lost 130+ lbs in the past. i use to weigh around 250 lbs. last time i checked my weight a few days ago i was 116 lbs. yeah i know i become really emaciated, but it's far better than being a fat-ass dude of 250 lbs. i get enough of being called "fat" in high-school by the age of 16, so i decided to stop all this by losing weight. i was a food-lover before i was fascinated by some foods taste. and i ate even if i wasn't hungry. now i'm very cautious about it and i don't look into food's taste.
i simply lost weight by eating less and less. no working out or stuff like that
For me personally, my diet has NO affect on my weight, it's my activity level that really matters. Dieting doesn't take weight off of me; not dieting doesn't make me bigger. I walk and hike a LOT, and I'd prefer hiking to watching a movie in the theater any day, but I'm also a night owl. If I can't find someone so accompany me, for safety, I have long phases of time where I get inactive and start packing on weight. I have a love of health issues that make it hard for me to perform most routine exercises, especially when I'm heavier.
Appetite suppressants. They help a lot because I don't eat nearly as much at once as used to. And actually they make eating feel more like a chore so the only time you'll ever eat is when your stomach is growling and you don't eat very much when you do
are those pills?
I've always loved weight lifting but never really cared for my diet. Since June I been going to the gym 6 days a wk and actually payed attention to my eating habits. I count my carbs and proteins and calories. But what made the difference imo was that I do intermittent fasting (google it). Right now I'm pretty close the 30 lbs lost mark while maintaining and putting on some muscle.
I go to the gym
A LOT
I also eat anything I want
But that's mainly because I'm young enough that it doesn't really affect and it's super easy to burn
It also depends on what body type you have
The three different types are ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph
They all require different things for losing weight, building muscle, and maintaining it
You should look into it
I went from 215 to 195 (20 lbs) in about 3 months on the Atkins diet. Although I should have worked out too, I didn't. So I might have lost even more weight with exercise added in. I've kind of reached a stopping point now where my body needs to adjust to my weight loss, so I've been stuck at about 23 lbs for a few weeks.
1. Eat 2-3 big meals a day.
2. Eat high protein & high fiber above all else.
3. Prioritize organic foods. The less manufactured any food is, the better for your health.
3. Lift weights.
4. Drink lots of water.
5. Take daily vitamins.
I just told you how to lose as much weight as you want.
It's up to you to understand that it's really that simple, and to dedicate yourself to your goal.
Organic foods have not been shown to have added health benefits or to be worth the extra cost. They just help you feel relevant. Veggies do not care where their nitrogen comes from, whether morally righteous compost or sanitized bovine wastes. What ever, whole grains are the enemy of the dieter.
If that's what you truly believe, then perhaps you'll see the truth of things soon enough. As a wise man once said, "You shall know them by their fruits." I also eat plenty of whole grains, and have never had a problem losing weight while doing so.
I've done a lot of research about what eating lifestyle (not a "diet") is the best. I would really recommend the Paleo Diet. Meat, veggies, fruit, animal fats...no gluten or grains. There is a book called the Paleo Solution which I heard is quite good. You might also pick up the book "The Wheat Belly".
Yes! exactly I am looking for a lifestyle change not a diet. Is there a way to lose weight without actually following a diet plan?
If your trying to lose weight then you should be doing cardiovascular/endurance training. Best way would be to keep a healthy diet & working out of course. I would say Workout at least 3x a week to see improvement. I never map out what I eat I just usually make sure I'm under a certain number of calories. Your calorie intake is 11x(your weight)= what calories you can consume. If you can't afford going to the gym. I would recommend Insanity workout.
Insanity requires you to be at a certain standard you for you to do it *well*. I found myself unable to do 3/4 of the video and the other quarter I didn't have the foundation to do
A mainly vegetarian diet, eat grains in the morning, a big bowl of porridge, it keeps you full for ages, and don't eat past 6pm. at first the 6pm thing will be a bit uncomfortable but you will get used to it. Eat a diet of mainly fruits and vegetables.
I'm still in the process, but I created/memorized a few staple recipes for dinner that have enough calories, and are healthy, and stay active 6 days out of the week. The hardest part is saying no to most junk food. It's just not worth it. I'm not really a cheat meal person but that works for some people. Just limit it to once a week
I lost 30 pounds in the last month and two weeks.
I eat anything I want as long as I don't exceed 2000 calories in a day. I exercise as much as I can, ideally 5 hours a week.
I use an app called fatsecret.
Eat less and burn more. Basically your workout needs to have strength training and cardio. You should use a calorie tracker like loseit.com and make sure you don't go over your limit. Like 8 weeks to lose 10 lbs.
how do I maintain it? Can I not have sweets? What is a responsible time frame to spoil myself or reward myself? 4 times a month? one a month?
You should take in like 300-400 calories a day from junk food (if you can, take in less, but up to 400 won't hurt you). Once a week or so you can have a cheat meal. Just make sure you are generally being active and getting all of your nutrients.
Make yourself busy, buy a lot of fruits in stock and if you ever feel hungry you can eat them, drink a lot of waterrr even force yourself sometimes cuz it fulfills your stomach. If you still feel hungry you can eat cereal but with no sugar of course. Chicken breasts is really good too. You eat chicken breasts everyday and only chicken breasts. You can lose 2 kg in around 2 weeks or so.but no sauce.I've done it and it really works.dont forget to exercise too!! Xx
Eat right. You can still have fast food ( perferably not) but make sure you watch HOW MUCH you are eating. Cut all of your portions in half and you will see weight come off pretty quickly. Also don't drink soda. I guarentee that will do it too.
I already don't eat fast food. I mainly eat at sit-down restaurants :/. I have cut out soda :). Next is alcohol
I started at 265 and I'm now at 183. I can help you out but I'll need some more information. Just send me a message if you want some coaching.
i just added you
i dunno, it's kind of impossible to not feel deprived while you're trying to lose weight...
just eat more veggies and fruits in place of junk you usually eat.
diet is a big part, more important than exercise
I had a huge fight with my best friends & lost my appetite for the following 6 months.. I didn't become a pro-ana or anything, I went from little chubby to curvy.
I losy my weight when I cut the portion of the food. And I avoid eating after 8pm if I can. I ate very little for dinner
