Is it true that Beauty is the Football women play? How so?

there's a popular adage that Venezuelian women use "Mejor muerta que Sencilla" Which would translate to "Better dead than ordinary". Is this the kind of competition women often engage in? I'm wondering as I hear mostly women talk about hair styles, nail polish, different brands of cosmetics, how fat this other girl is etc...

As a guy I could spend a whole day taking about who would win the Super Bowl this year (Raven - The last stand of General. Ray Lewis). As opposed to women who could spend the same amount of time just talking about hair.

O_O hair is boring, I don't get it. It just grows all over and you need to trim it once in a while. End of story. Took me 5 seconde.

So my question come to this: is it true that Beauty is the Football women play? Do you share cosmetic information just to crush competition? How useful are the advices you get? What is your definition of the perfect beauty (if that even exists)? If you had a girl that was better looking than you how would you bring her down?

Wicked Cool! never though about it that way that women could become as primitive as men (watching football) when it came to physical appearances (discussing beauty).


If outer beauty is such a fierce competition. What happens when 2 girls in a crowded room meet and they have the same Dress?

I don't wear any make-up except for special occasions but I know a lot about make-up. I use to do my friend's hair and make-up a lot. A few of them thought themselves to be quite ugly but if I did their hair in a certain way or just used a bit of cover up they would look at themselves and be happy about how they look. They're beautiful but they sometimes can't see it. As regarding talking about hair, make-up, etc. I've find that my friends that do talk about make-up have a very scientific understanding of it and I find that really interesting although I rarely talk about it myself. If you work on something a lot you'll eventually end up talking about it.

As for the quote, I don't think girls are competing with their friends, I think they are competing with the world of girls. We're constantly compared and compare ourselves. You don't have the same pressure and that is why you think of your hair so lightly. I remember a year ago, during finals, I hadn't trimmed my hair in a bit and there were some split ends. My friends noticed and came to inform me. lol They wanted me to look my best. hahah I hate going to the salon but it was nice of them.

The perfect beauty: For as many people there are there are, there are that many types of perfect beauties. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

p.s. I don't think girls spend an entire day talking about hair. lol

Naturally, women tend to share more. We share beauty secrets, hair care secrets, and relationship stories.

From a guy point of view, it is boring for hair but because I am researching on selling beauty products and hair care, I have to learn the science of hair and beauty.

For example, hair types, hair texture, hair products, hair serum, shampoo and conditioner ingredients, and so on. I could probably exhaust 30 days on all the hair products in the whole world that is available. Then you got hair dyes and hair cut style, lol.

I find a lot of the negative messages tend to be girl my age who are not secure with themselves so they need to bring some else down. It is more of an insecurity issue and competitive personality.

I don't believe in bring people down to make myself better, I ask what they use for skin care or hair care so I know what I can use to improve my looks. It is more a bonding thing.

Also from my experience, I learn who is worth my time and who is not. I only live once so I like to be around people who are encouraging or have something important to say vs someone who is insecure and competitive. I see it as your friends and network can impact your life so why wasted on negative people?

For some girls who are insecure and must question the power of INNER BEAUTY, yes, outter beauty is one huge competition. They need to reassure themselves that they can be very beautiful by constantly feeling like they've upstaged some other girl's beauty. Quite frankly, I think that's pathetic and unhealthy.

I like to play with clothes because it helps me excercise my creativity :) Not because I have to reassure myself that I can look better than the next chick lol

for me, I don't talk about those things because I don't like cosmetics , I find them a waste of money and I don't do make up. hair styles I like my own I prefer straight hair , I like to look at other girls/women fashion including their makeup , clothes, hair but I won't crush them. there is always someone out there who is better looking than us, no ending to this. I won't bitch about the person to bring her down. I like myself for who I am. if guys like the pretty girls, then good for them.

Beauty is not a competition. Look at runway models. They mostly look ridiculous and too skinny.
