Get help with the dieting. Sign up with an organization that gives you a scientifically researched diet, so you save the time counting calories and can just follow their script. I'd suggest Weight Watchers, but there are many others just as good.
Working out is fine, but the diet is the first priority. Don't worry too much about the working out. It will come more easily to you as you start losing weight and look better in the mirrors at the gym.
