Is my body okay? How much should I eat a day?

I'm just over 5'7, and 128 lbs. My BMI is 20. I used to be 123 lbs, and I'm not sure if I gained weight or muscle. I did start working out, but I didn't change my bad eating habits. My hips are 33 inches, my waist is 26, and my chest is 33. I want to change my eating habits and start working out more. How many calories should I be eating, if I plan on working out also, to lose weight/gain muscle?
